25.01.2022 Does your period make you feel moody, flat out exhausted, or a bit BLAH? Most women experience PMS and/or painful periods, and most accept this as normal. Most women believe they just have to 'get on with it', or they wind up popping painkillers to help deal with pain. It's time to feel better, stronger and more energised on every day of your cycle. I help women balance their hormones naturally. Contact me for more info on 0422547983 or [email protected] xx .

25.01.2022 I don't know about you, but in colder weather I just forget to drink water. Carrying around a bottle is always a good hydration reminder, go for BPA & BPS free to avoid nasty hormone disrupting chemicals. Currently crushing on these from @swellbottle

24.01.2022 I swear by these tips for a good nights rest. Do you have any you would add? x

24.01.2022 The clinic is now taking bookings for new naturopathic clients. To make an appointment follow the link in my bio, email [email protected] or call 0422547983

22.01.2022 Food Intolerance testing available in-clinic. This is an IgG & IgA blood spot test - no blood draw required!! Food intolerances are often a factor in irritable bowel, skin conditions, headaches & fatigue. For more info 0422547983 or email [email protected]

22.01.2022 Are you okay? Make a habit of asking this - not only today, but regularly. Follow with 'what can I do to help?' and then let your actions do the rest. We talk about colds and flus etc, but mental health issues are still stigmatised. Open dialogue and social connection makes us all stronger

19.01.2022 Loving the positive reporting of herbal medicine in mainstream media. This article is about PCOS, a common reproductive & metabolic condition that affects up to 21% of Australian women. Symptoms can include long, absent or irregular menstrual cycles, alters to blood sugar regulation, struggles to maintain a healthy weight, high androgens (acne, facial hair, hair loss) & infertility. PCOS is really well managed with a low GI diet, exercise & herbal medicines, often helping w...omen avoid medications. To find out more about PCOS & managing the condition naturally DM me or [email protected]

19.01.2022 Have you heard of the FODMAP diet? It's a diet which eliminates foods high in 'FODMAP' short chain carbohydrates and alcohol sugars which can reduce symptoms of IBS and bloating. The FODMAP diet was originally designed as a short term elimination plan, its restrictive and never meant to be followed long term. If you are on a low FODMAP diet and had relief it's time to find the actual reason you can't tolerate high FODMAP foods (eg. SIBO). To me it feels like the latest fad, even Bakers Delight has brought out a new low FODMAP bread demonstrating how mainstream this is. If you want to know more about treating IBS or the FODMAP diet DM me or [email protected]

19.01.2022 When I'm not in clinic, I'm helping with our renovation. I threw this quick lunch together in 5 minutes the other day. It's so important for meals to be macro nutrient balanced. It helps keep our blood sugar, energy and mood stable through the day. And you definitely need a stable mood when renovating in 37 degree heat, stuck in a super dusty small place with your significant other all day . Here I had tonnes of veggies, tuna and legumes (protein), avocado (good fats) and GF buckwheat crackers for me, wholemeal bread for him (carbs).

17.01.2022 Mixing herbal tonics. Phyto medicine is such a powerful tool. Traditional wisdom passed down through generations of herbal healers, now backed up by modern research. I feel lucky to hold this knowledge and to be able to share this with my patients

17.01.2022 Lets Talk Supplements // Do you even need to take supplements , or do you just wee them out? Ever wondered if your multi is actually doing anything? Here are my golden rules for taking supplements: 1. Buy practitioner brands. Generally these products have therapeutic doses ie. the right amount of the vitamin, mineral or herb for it to have an effect. Practitioner products will also contain the right type of ingredient for maximum absorption, and will have been trialled clini...cally. 2. Treat supplements as medicine. Anything we take in is metabolised through our liver/kidneys, including supplements. This is an added burden to our body so take when needed - to restore a nutrient deficiency or for short term symptom management 3. Speak to someone qualified and registered with an association such as NHAA, ATMS or ANTA. Ideally this would be in a clinical setting so that your supplements prescribed based on the results of testing and a comprehensive health assessment. If you are talking to someone in a health food store make sure to disclose all other medications, allergies, health conditions, if breastfeeding/pregnant or trying to fall pregnant. And be highly suspicious if someone with only a nutrition qualification suggests something herbal! Personally I take only what is necessary and only when I need extra support, not all the time. I have my favourite supplements for myself and my patients which are high quality, free of nasty fillers and are highly effective. x

13.01.2022 It's been a very full few weeks for me, I moved to Port from Sydney, started my clinic space @sproutnaturopathy and have been busy renovating @__bandwagon__ cafe. I took the opportunity yesterday to mix myself a tonic to support my energy, adrenals and nervous system, because we all need a bit of extra support in times of high demand. Look after yourself this weekend

09.01.2022 A large cohort study has found a higher incidence of depressive symptoms in vegetarian adult men. What do you think of this result? This mirrors my personal experience of being a vegetarian (I started eating meat once I began my nutrition studies!), and also my experience in my clinic. Don't get me wrong, a vegetarian diet can be done well and can certainly lower incidence of some disease. However, a vegetarian diet needs to be carefully considered as it will generally be low in Omega-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc and b12 which has implications for gut health, skin, mood and energy production. If you are vegetarian seeing a naturopath or nutritionist every 3 months for a check-in is a wonderful investment on your long-term health and wellbeing. DM me or email [email protected] for more info x

07.01.2022 Spending the afternoon updating my knowledge on all things genetics, including genetic testing and how to use the results to create more personalised treatment. We are born with our genes them and they remain unchanged throughout our life. Though we can't change our genes we can choose how they are expressed: diet, exercise, our lifestyle and our environment have a huge influence on how our genetics inmpact our health and how we feel Have you had genetic testing, or would you be interested in getting tested? It's so fascinating I might get mine done. I'm curious to see if being a coffee drinker is helpful or harmful to my health
