24.01.2022 Not my usual style but hey it All Hallows' eve so I thought I'd share a snow zombie. All Hallows' Eve,or All Saints' Eve is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead [or the undead in this case] including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.

20.01.2022 A bit of Europe in Melbourne Montsalvat is an artist colony in Eltham, created by Justus Jorgensen in 1934. Jörgensen trained as an architect with the Melbourne firm of architects, Schreiber & Co. To create Montsalvat, Jörgensen invited his students and friends to join him in Eltham where he harnessed their collective skills to build over a dozen buildings, houses and halls all set amongst richly established gardens. The Great Hall complete with gargoyles, features some of the stonework came from Wilson Hall at the University of Melbourne, which been badly damaged by fire in the 1950s. #architecture #montsalvat

18.01.2022 Felt like yellow & cheery this morning as it feels like spring is on the way..... The Vault (more commonly known in Melbourne as the Yellow Peril) a public sculpture located in Melbourne, Australia. The work of sculptor Ron Robertson-Swann, Vault is an abstract, minimalist sculpture built of large thick flat polygonal sheets of prefabricated steel, assembled in a way that suggests dynamic movement. It is painted yellow hence the yellow peril nickname. Commissioned in 1978 it was initially installed in the city square in 1980. Since then it's has been shuffled about appearing randomly in public spaces until it's final move to the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA ) in 2002.

09.01.2022 The classic 70s Casalino plastic chair. Designed by Alexander Begge for Casala in the Netherlands in 1971. Apparently replica versions of the chair can sell for up to $400 these days & it has been voted by several website as 'the outdoor chair to have'. Luckily I know where there is one just lying around in a warehouse of the old Cario Distillery.

08.01.2022 The Tippy Top Eureka Tower is named after the Eureka Stockade, the Victorian gold rush rebellion of 1854 which has been incorporated into the design. Most interestingly, and I can't believe I didn't see it before, the white horizontal stripes on the building represent markings on a surveyor's measuring staff. The gold top representing the gold rush and a red stripe representing the blood spilt during the revolt. The blue glass cladding that covers most of the building represents the blue background of the stockade's flag and the white lines also represent the Eureka Stockade flag. Designed by Melbourne architectural firm Fender Katsalidis Architects and completed in 2006.
