21.01.2022 FERN HAS BEEN FOUND!!!! URGENT PLEASE SHARE MISSING CAT - WERRIBEE... Fern has gone missing from her home in Werribee. She is extremely timid with strangers, so we desperately need people who are able to help look for her, but not approach her if found. If you can spend some time to help Fern's frantic mum look for her, please call or text Michelle asap. IF YOU SEE FERN, PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH HER, SHE WILL PANIC AND RUN - just call Michelle and she will come and get her. Please share.

14.01.2022 Please say a very gentle squishy hello to one of the many reasons we have been so quiet the last week or so; now 17 day old Princess Xanadu Banana-Jane, but you can just call her Xanadu! This precious wee one was rejected by her mum and wasn’t feeding well, so late last Tuesday night, she came into care with us at 11 days old and barely 100gms. Poor little Xan’s eyes were fused shut with pus causing pressure and she was in quite a state. After warming her up and nursing her t...hrough the night it was apparent there was no way she was going to survive without medical intervention, so early Wednesday morning, Xanadu was admitted to East Bentleigh Vet Clinic under the care of specialist neonate nurse, Jane, who despite working full time and planning an event, tube fed Xan around the clock, until she was strong enough to suckle from a bottle. Even then, her weight gain was slow and we feared she may have come to us too late to save her, so for the last week, Xan has been admitted to hospital during the day and taken home with Jane or her colleague at night for 24/7 professional care. We are absolutely thrilled to say that Miss Banana is now over 130gms, her eyes are looking and feeling so much better (the yellow you can see is ointment) and should she continue to improve and grow in strength, she may be able to come back into care in the next few days, to continue her around the clock care going forward. Obviously there is still a long way to go for this wee cherub and she is not nearly out of the woods, but she is a fighter and we will fight with her for as long as she’s willing. We are so incredibly grateful to East Bentleigh Vet Clinic for keeping Xanadu’s bill as low as possible, but of course a week in hospital and counting is still a big financial hit. If you would like to donate towards Princess Xanadu’s care, details are below and please keep our little miracle in your thoughts over the coming weeks, she’s got such a lot of ground to make up. xx Donations can be made: - By direct deposit to: Squishies Animal Rescue BSB: 033 044 ACC: 553804 -Via PayPal [email protected] -Through the Giving Fund link on this post

07.01.2022 This year has been a strange one for just about everyone! We haven't seen many of our loved ones and they deserve to know how much we have missed them! With artwork by Ingrid K Brooker these Squishmas cards are adorable, festive, and best of all, support the care of squishy animals in need at a time of year where we need it the most. We are offering free delivery on all orders over $60 from now until 9am Monday! https://squishystore.squarespace.com/shop/p/squishmas-cards

07.01.2022 In much happier news, our scrappy little fighter, Machete will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and thanks to the amazing care of his foster mum, he is absolutely thriving! <3

05.01.2022 Our little cherub is still fighting and is 3 weeks old today. Sadly, although we will fight for her as long as she still has fight left, the combination of the delay in receiving intensive medical care combined with possible congenital issues mean we may devastatingly have been given the chance to help her too late. After spending a week in hospital, being cared for around the clock by specialist neonate nurses, Xan came back to HQ on Wednesday and while she's still plucky a...nd alert, her development and weight just isn't progressing as it should. While we'd love to admit her to an intensive care unit to give her the absolute best chance possible, we simply don't have the money. We have already spent over $2000 on trying to give Xanadu the best chance of surviving and that money was supposed to have paid off some of our account at Sandy Vet, which has had a dental with extractions and a stenotic nares surgery (nose job) added to the bill in just the last 24 hours. We are heartbroken, exhausted, frustrated and broke. We've have 4 new animals come into care this week, 2 major medical issues (not including the dental and nose job) and are in desperate need of no pet foster homes for cats with issues that no one wants to deal with. We've had more than half of applicants for recent animals; change their minds, have a "family emergency" or just never return contact, causing the process to be painfully time consuming and completely unfair to genuine applicants. I have to be honest, I'm not sure how much more we can take. Please keep Xan in your thoughts and please be patient with us, I know I promised paperwork to a few recent adopters this weekend, but as yet haven't found the time.

05.01.2022 We received so many enquires about the space pod carrier that Blep was using for his many trips to the vet, that we decided to see if we could source them for #TheSquishyStore. Unfortunately, they are quite difficult to get hold of and at this stage, we’ve only been able to secure one. Instead of putting it in the shop, we’ve decided to raffle it (along with some awesome toys) to raise money for our ever-increasing vet bills!... Tickets can be purchased through The Squishy Store from now until 11.59pm on the 9th of December. Our winner will be drawn on Saturday 12/12 and the prize will be shipped the following week! We also wanted to let you know that as we need to every now and then, we have cleared our adoption waitlist and will begin a new one from today. If you have recently been placed on our waitlist, are in Victoria and are still looking to adopt, please just shoot us an email and we'll pop you back on the new list! We will have several young adult Squishy cats starting the search for their perfect forever homes over the next week and we can't wait to introduce you to them all! <3 Link for raffle tickets in comments!

03.01.2022 Last week we took on 3 more neonates who were handed into a vet clinic only days old. This week, their amazing foster mum had an appointment she couldn't take them to, so they hung out at HQ for a few hours! Perma-Squishy, Pugsley Von Pretzel appointed himself Head Babysitter, while Perma-Peke, Munchkin was on guard duty! The costs involved in raising bottle babies are extensive and our other bottle baby, Machete has already had 2 vet visits at just 16 days old with anot...her 2+ months in care until being adoption ready. If you would like to support our neonate program this kitten season, monetary donations can be made via direct deposit or PayPal, or you can purchase from our Donation products at #TheSquishyStore! 02.01.2022 Please say a very Squishy hello to our gorgeous little friend, Dougie! This cheeky little guy is an 8 month old Pug x Cavalier and unfortunately for young Douglas, like so many others this year, he is a ‘pandemic puppy’. He was purchased entire from a backyard breeder and while their hearts were in the right place, they were not prepared or equipped to cope once the reality of a puppy and all the work and mess that comes along with them set in. As a result, at just 6 months o...Continue reading
