25.01.2022 Skanda Sashti 16th November, Monday 21st November, Saturday Lord Karthikeya was born to defeat Adharma and restore Dharma. Soorapadman and other asuras ravaged the earth and tormented its beings. After six days of war, Lord Karthikeya vanquished the asuras. In the war, Soorapadman was split into two, and was granted a boon by Lord Karthikeya, to become a peacock which He took as his Vahana and the other, a rooster was transformed into His banner. Skanda Sashti commemorat...es the destruction of evil by the Supreme Being. 04.01.2022 TEMPLE ENTRY PROCEDURES FROM 9/11/2020 In view of the partial relaxation of Covid 19 restrictions, the HSV Management Committee is pleased to announce partial re-opening of the temple to devotees from 9th November 2020. The following procedures will be implemented until further notice to comply with the directives of the Department of Health and Human Services, Government of Victoria. Strict adherence to Government restrictions for indoor temple attendance for pre-arranged r...eligious ceremonies will commence from 9 November 2020. In compliance with the limit on the total number of people allowed indoors, a maximum of 12 devotees will be allowed to enter the temple for pre-booked ceremonies only. Outdoor religious ceremonies are restricted to a total of 50 devotees and this would be on a first come first served basis. Devotees could pre-register on arrival at the old canteen counter. Hand sanitizers, archana trays, details of pooja arrangements and payment facility will be available at the temporary office near the old canteen site. Arrangements for Deepavali, Skantha Sashti and Sri Ayappar Padi Pooja will be made in consideration of entry requirements to temple premises and will depend on prevailing Government restrictions. Sponsors and devotees who are undertaking special poojas will be informed by the Temple Managers. Devotees can contact the temple only by telephoning the temple on 03 97820878. General information and any special arrangements will be conveyed to devotees through the HSV website. Temple entry to outdoor religious ceremonies will be as follows: Weekdays: 9 am to 11 am; 6 pm to 8 pm Weekends: 7.30 am to 12 noon; 5.30 pm to 8 pm Prearranged indoor religious ceremonies will be conducted as per agreed arrangements. HSV canteen opening hours will be as follows: Friday: 5.30 pm to 9 pm Saturday: 10 am to 1 pm; 5.30 pm to 9 pm Sunday: 10 am to 1 pm; 5.30 pm to 9 pm For external priest religious services, devotees are advised to contact the Temple Manager. Please note that wearing of fitted face mask is compulsory. The above procedures are subject to change at any time by the Management Committee. While the HSV Management Committee understands the fervent desire of devotees to return to their normal temple worship, in view of the restrictions imposed by the Victorian Government, the Management Committee apologizes for the inconveniences and hardships caused to the devotees by the above arrangements.
