06.01.2022 Some screen grabs taken from a shoot late last year shot using the @blackmagicnewsofficial Pocket Cinema Camera 6k and @sigmaphotoaustralia 16-35mm f1.8. We have a reaaaally basic lighting setup for shot #1. Theres an @aputure.lighting 120d mkii LED used as the key. This had a big light dome over it with a honeycomb grid in front of it, which I find delivers a stronger light concentration in one area (the subject) rather than flooding the room without the grid. This was qu...ite a small room so admittedly its effect wasnt too incredible. Youll find in a lot of new office buildings that you cant actually turn off the overhead lights during work hours as theyre set to a sensor or only have a floor-wide light switch. So all we could do here to get rid of the gross overhead lights was dim them down to the lowest intensity. (Alternatively you can get some black wrap or something else to block off unwanted lights all together) And finally a subtle hair light to shape the back of the head with the SunwayFoto FL-96 LED. This didnt actually have a whole lot of effect because there was already a huge light level in the room but its only just noticable.

01.01.2022 I want to start sharing some more of my setups, especially for narrative shoots! Here we have a campfire scene. We didnt have access to genuine campfire, so we did we do? After doing some research I found what worked out to be a very realistic low-fi solution. I set up my @cametv Boltzen LED facing each subject with a cheap orange gel clipped on the barn doors. The only caveat was during each take, someone had to be dimming the intensity up and down to mimic fire flicker. (...Bonus shot in the last image) To have a little bit of an edge light in whats basically a dark void, I managed to set up the @aputuretech 120D ii in a soft box shooting day light balanced light to mimic the moon. I regret not punching this light to be more brighter, but I think it still has a nice subtle look. Each shot was filmed at 2600k white balance so this apears blue. And finally in the background I had these cheap little battery powered lamps I found at a dollar store to put some depth in the scene. And thats basically it! All shot in .BRAW on the @blackmagicnewsofficial P6K with a rokinon 50mm.
