24.01.2022 Head to Civic Park for a Christmas Tree Maze starting on Thursday 3 December. Get lost in the maze which will be made of 120 fully sized fresh Christmas pine tr...ees. By day, kids will have a great time finding their way through the maze and by night, onlookers can enjoy the sparkling solar-powered tree lights, helping give the city a little extra Christmas spirit. Civic Park’s Christmas Tree Maze runs from 7am to 7pm from Friday 4 December to Saturday 12 December. It's free to enter. *** Please note that the maze will open at 3pm on Thursday 3 December following the installation of the maze in Civic Park **** This event is one of the events for A Very Newy Christmas produced by Enigma and funded by City of Newcastle’s Special Business Rate Program.

18.01.2022 We know it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the day-to-day challenges COVID-19 has impacted on individuals. Some may have never been in a position where they need... extra financial assistance and may not be aware of the services available to them. This is where Samaritans come in. Samaritans have been partnering with local organisations to support the communities and individuals who have been most affected by the recent bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. Every Monday between 1pm - 2:30pm, four (4) 20-minute appointments will be offered to anyone in the community who needs it, hosted by Renea Macpherson of Samaritans. YOU WILL NEED: Identification, proof of income and a four-week bank statement before the Samaritans can provide people experiencing financial hardship due to bushfire or COVID-19 with brokerage for bills, food vouchers and more. Appointments are strictly limited to 20minute sessions on Mondays between 1pm 2:30pm Failure to attend an appointment may result in ineligibility for future appointments. 14.01.2022 How great is it that the missing link from Boolaroo to Cardiff, the last piece of Munibung Rd, is now open. This makes coming to/leaving from SURVIVORS R US and FIRST IMPRESSIONS so much easier. Its particularly great to be able to avoid the 4pm bottleneck at Cardiff and surrounds. Although SRUs is running a limited service during this time please don't forget that you can still contact reception at Survivors R Us on 4953 7108 (Wednesdays and Thursdays) if you need assistan...ce accessing good quality work attire. We were just this week delighted to assist one of our own hardworking SRU volunteers find some lovely shirts and some comfy shoes to wear to her upcoming teaching placement. As well as having an abundance of ladies and men's wear in all sizes we have just taken delivery of a large box of brand new men's trousers in sizes 28 and 30. We hope to add all the wonderful donations that many of our supporters have been holding on to for us to our collection at First Impressions in the near future and we look forward to welcoming even more customers when our hours return to normal. Lastly, please tell all your friends, relatives and work colleagues about the service offered at SRU First Impressions. As mentioned we have men's clothing and shoes as well as womenswear, lots of sizes and styles to suit all ages. 09.01.2022 ARREST MADE Earlier this week, Survivor's R Us Incorporated and another Cardiff business were broken into and goods were stolen. Yesterday, Lake Macquarie P...olice District officers stopped a Mazda 6 on Minmi Road, Fletcher, about 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 January 2021) and spoke with a 31-year-old man. Police conducted a search of the vehicle where they allegedly located items believed to be stolen from the above premises as well as methylamphetamine and housebreaking implements. The man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station, where he was charged with 10 offences, including: Enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse Larceny Destroy/damage property (x2) Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal Aggravated break and enter commit indictable offence-in company-steal Possess housebreaking implements Possess prohibited drug Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen Police will allege in court the Birmingham Gardens man was involved in several property offences around the Newcastle area in December 2020. Great work by our NSW Police Force.
