21.01.2022 A message from Portland SSAA Pistol Club: Hi all! Unfortunately there is now a case of corona virus that has tested positive in Hamilton!! We will have to cancel all shoots till further notice and this has all blown over! Stay safe everyone hopefully this wont last to long and we can get back shooting ASAP cheers mike

18.01.2022 The latest from SSAA and LRD! Dear Branches and Clubs, As most of you are aware, there have been announcements on the easing of restrictions. However, it is important to note that these new restrictions do not apply until Monday 1 June. As such, the current restrictions, a maximum of 10 per group and no use of clubhouses, still apply for this weekend.... At this stage, the government has not released the updated Directions for outdoor facilities that come into effect on Monday. Based on past performance, we believe this will not be released until Sunday night. Once we have the Chief Medical Officers directions, we will be able to confirm any changes to operations of the ranges. However, it is important to note that social distancing of 1.5m will not be changing. We will be circulating more information on Monday, once the official documentation has been released. Following a meeting with LRD today, regarding handgun attendances, they are maintaining their current position that it is under review and they have not made any decision as to whether there is going to be any reduction on number of attendances required. Our recommendation, until we receive more information for LRD, is to advise members to still aim to achieve your required attendances now that ranges are open - albeit restricted. As soon as we have an update on the matter we will advise. 16.01.2022 Portland SSAA Pistol Club have announced no shoot tonight 30th January due to extreme weather! They will be shooting this Saturday afternoon 1st February providing they get the expected rain. Will keep you posted of any change

Temporary changes to firearm and ammunition regulations Following a decision by National Cabinet, the Licensing and Regulation Division has been advised there will be a suspension of all firearm transactions including the sale, hire and loan of firearms and ammunition for the reasons of Sport or Target Shooting, Clay Target Shooting and Recreational hunting. This suspension, effective immediately, will remain for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency. Those with a genuine need for access to ammunition and firearms for a clear occupational requirement, will be able to continue to access firearms and ammunition for these purposes. We understand this change has evolved suddenly, however, we would appreciate your cooperation and continued support during these uncertain times. Hey mate sorry for the late notice just letting you know we are going to be shooting steel challenge tomorrow and will be having a bbq for lunch after also if anyone has a black powder rifle the want to shoot we will be having a play with them to! 01.01.2022 A visit to Portland SSAA Pistol Club last Sunday was entertaining! The Portland guys have suggested an inter comp. with us shooting metallic silhouette from rimfire through to all centrefire categories at the next shoot which is the 3rd Saturday 16th November, it wont be to serious and all welcome. You can make your own way down to Thistle Rd. Portland or meet at Coons 9am to arrange a ride. A reminder for memberships due 1st December 2019, there will be a reminder email.
