22.01.2022 SSAA SHOT EXPO POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) _______________________________________________ It is with regret that we announce the postponement of t...he 2020 SHOT Expo in June at Rosehill Racecourse. The SSAA NSW Board with the CEO have been meeting regularly over the last few weeks regarding the hosting of the event, along with SSAA National and the promoter Level Up Events. SSAA NSW has, on a daily basis, monitored worldwide events relating to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and noted the cancellation of events including the Easter Show, other Expos and of course sporting events. At all times our consideration has focussed firstly on the safety our members, volunteers, staff, exhibitors and the general public. The World Health Organisation suggests that infections can be transmitted during a mass gathering, during transit to and from the event, and in participants’ home communities upon their return. Based on statistics from our previous SHOT Expos, we anticipate large numbers and high crowd density, which increases the risk of potential infection and the draining of much needed health resources. The cost to stage the Shot Expo is in the range of $500,000 - $600,000. SSAA NSW takes the management of the Association’s and members' funds seriously and making this decision now avoids significant financial loss due to last-minute cancellation. The situation has been developing rapidly. The Australian and NSW Government have now banned all non-essential gatherings of 500 people or more. SSAA NSW follows the advice of Government, the Chief Medical Officer and the World Health Organisation (WHO). As a result of the Government ban and our own deliberations, the SSAA SHOT Expo is now postponed. We are in discussions with our promoter and venue provider as to potential new dates and will advise in due course. We thank our Members and industry partners for your patience and understanding at this time as we manage the impact of this pandemic on Shot Expo and other scheduled events. SSAA NSW will provide refunds for those who had already purchased tickets. Although this is not the outcome anyone wanted, we will work harder than ever to put on a bigger and better Expo in the future. To all please exercise every precaution and stay safe. We will continue to provide updates. Lance Miller - President, SSAA NSW Jai Rowell - CEO, SSAA NSW

12.01.2022 JUNE AUSTRALIAN SHOOTER - DIGITAL SUPPLEMENT With the ongoing disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to reduce pagination in the prin...t version of the Australian Shooter in the short term. However, to bring you our regular content, we will be publishing a monthly digital supplement on the SSAA National website. When life returns to normal so will your favourite shooting sports magazine, until then we hope you enjoy the digital supplement online as much as you enjoy the slightly smaller hard-copy June edition of the Australian Shooter at home. 10.01.2022 A message from the SSAA National President During these uncertain times I wanted to talk to you, our members and supporters, to provide you with an update on h...ow the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia is responding to COVID-19. Rest assured, SSAA National is doing everything we can to bring you your regular services. The Australian Shooter April edition is already on its way to you, with normal packaging and postage occurring from our regular distributer in Sydney. As events continue to develop daily, or even more rapidly, our staff across Australia will continue to work for you, our members. As successfully trialled last week, many of our staff are now working from home, where possible and safe. With social distancing protocols in place, I encourage you to continue to support the Association and our membership community. With almost 200,000 members, we are our own community and support-group and I hope now more than ever we can support each other as much as we can. Wear your SSAA logo proudly, be it on your hat, shirt, jacket or belt buckle and if you see another member, say hello to them in a safe and appropriate way and check on their welfare. Check on their and their family’s welfare. For some, now is also a great opportunity to go hunting, to stock up on meat for the table and the freezer. Regarding membership renewals, our office is continuing to process those as normal; we know for many of you, your membership is your genuine reason for holding a firearms licence. Further, I know many of you have queries regarding your range or club closing and your mandatory attendance commitments. The SSAA understands that most state branches are in talks with relevant legislators as to how new restrictions will affect these things, as each state and territory functions under different laws, I suggest you contact your state or territory SSAA club for the information most relevant to you. Lastly, stay safe and support one another as much as possible. Geoff Jones.
