24.01.2022 The range will be open to the public this Monday 23rd November from 4pm until 6pm, as there will only be one Range Officer in attendance only the 300m range will be open. Anyone wishing to attend please reply to this post so we know when the range is full. We are not allowed to shoot from the concrete benches as they are not deemed to be covid safe, if you wish to shoot from the bench you must bring something to cover it such as tarp, carpet or a large sheet of plastic. All s...urfaces will be disinfected by the Range Officer prior to range opening and hand sanitizer will be available at the sign-in drum. I am hoping to be able to make these announcements regularly in future.

22.01.2022 Hi to all V08 SSAA Mildura Members, I have some good and bad news regarding the range, the good news is that the range is now open, the bad news is that the days of anyone going to the range whenever they please are behind us. Due to insurance and covid requirements the range can only be open when there is an active range officer in attendance, the meaning of active being if the range officer arrives and opens the gate they are accepting to be responsible for themselves and a...nyone else following them to be compliant with all insurance and covid range requirements. If you are a range officer and are not willing to accept this responsibility, or you are not a range officer then you are not allowed to be the person who opens the gate. Compliance for most of our new rules is governed by Worksafe who can and will conduct spot checks, if someone at the range is in breach of regulations the range officer will suffer the same fate as the non compliant person, this is the level of responsibility a range officer must accept (please remember, we are all volunteers). Due to the range officer having to accept this level of responsibility anyone on the range MUST comply with any reasonable request given by a range officer, including a request to leave the range for non-compliance, failure to follow direction could lead to police intervention. Due to the range having around 500 members who are not range officers and not in sub clubs I am putting a procedure in place where any range officer attending the range out of competition hours will notify me of when they will be there, I will then put a message on this page giving people the opportunity to attend while someone is there, I am also hoping to have range officers available at set times outside of competition hours so our other members can plan in advance. The restriction of the locked gate and the range officer in attendance is pre covid and was supposed to happen many years ago, we have been able to resist it until now. There are also restrictions to group sizes and other covid related rules, but Dan is making his next announcement tomorrow that could negate anything I type tonight, I will update with those restrictions after his announcement. if we could get group sizes larger and no masks, it would make a big difference to us, but I suppose it is harder to swallow flies with a mask on. If you have any questions please inbox me (I type praying to not have my inbox blown up), if your question is one I think a lot of people would want to know I will answer it on the main page instead of replying to the inbox to try to minimize my typing time.

21.01.2022 Congratulations Lachlan Adolph for winning Back to Back World U/18 Junior Titles Mildura `s Own World Champion Well done Lachy :)

12.01.2022 Hi Members, The announcements this morning contained some good news for the range. First, we are no longer restricted to groups of ten people, we are only restricted by the number of people we can safely fit on a range. Second, we no longer have to wear masks at the range unless close proximity is required, you must carry your mask with you in case, for example, you have a gun jam and need the help of an RO or fellow shooter to solve the issue, both the helper and the helpee are required to be wearing a mask for the duration of the close proximity.

11.01.2022 There will not be an RO at the range today, 43 degrees is kind of a stupid temperature to be out there in.There will not be an RO at the range today, 43 degrees is kind of a stupid temperature to be out there in.

11.01.2022 Are any RO's planning on being at the range today or tomorrow that could help out some people who wish to shoot?

05.01.2022 Dear SSAA V08 Members You'll no doubt be aware of the ratcheting up of restrictions in response to the outbreak in Melbourne. SSAA (Vic) have advised us that numbers on ranges are to be limited to 10 plus a range officer, and that the club rooms are not to be used. Every other SSAA range in Victoria is being closed to avoid the inevitable difficulties associated with range officers having to manage the attendee numbers limit. Those situations can get ugly and stressful for ...range officers and others in attendance. It is with some reluctance then and after much discussion that the Branch Executive has decided to follow suit in so far as the use of firearms on the Cardross Range Complex will be banned for 6 weeks. That ban is effective from this morning (Saturday, 8 August, 2020). The Branch will advise members when firearms may be used on the range again. The Executive also recognises that this 6-week period represents an opportunity to address some serious maintenance issue on the complex. As such, the Branch Executive is preparing a list of works and will be calling for volunteers to carry out specific works. The sub-clubs no doubt will have a list of issues specific to their discipline that they'll be able to address during this period. We all need to be mindful that the numbers on the complex must comply with the cap on attendance stipulation mentioned above, so some communication and co-ordination are called for to avoid wasted effort and travel by volunteers. Regards Michael Treeby Branch Secretary
