25.01.2022 A big thank you to Erlanda and Marc as well as all the volunteers and sponsors. A lot goes into these events, congrats to everyone involved We have been very lucky with the numbers the last few years shooting over 700 foxes two years in a row. We knew it wasnt going to be easy to get there againIn saying that, we still managed to get a very big tally of 528 foxes, 34 feral cats, 156 rabbits and 1 pig. All we can say is thank you Boyup Brook you really make us proud. N...Continue reading

He loved his western action and all things cowboy. Happy Trails Tony. His service is this Friday 10:30am Purslowe, Wangara, Cnr of Buckingham and Wanneroo Road.
24.01.2022 SSAA WA Directive on Club Operations in Western Australia In response to the latest easing of restrictions announced by the WA State Government effective 11.59pm Friday 5th June 2020, the SSAA WA are pleased to announce the recommendation to all SSAA WA clubs to now recommence competition shooting activities effective Saturday 6th June 2020. The introduction of Phase 3 of the roadmap to recovery plan for Western Australia also outlines a number of health and h...ygiene protocols that must be followed by all WA sporting clubs and recreational venues, in order to mitigate the threat of COVID-19 and to ensure the safest possible environment for all participants. The State of Emergency declared on the 15th March 2020 under the WA Emergency Management Act 2005 remains in place however the new rules now permit mass gathering sizes of 100 people in a single undivided space, up to a maximum of 300 people in total at a single use venue. In addition to these rules, strict hygiene and distancing protocols still apply and all SSAA WA clubs will soon be provided with high quality, highly visible and distinctly SSAA infographic signage, to reinforce the message of health and hygiene with our initiative of Staying Safe on The Range This resource will also be made available to clubs in printable format, should they wish to produce additional paper copies to display in multiple locations on the ranges or in clubhouses. Clubs and Range Officers are respectfully reminded to carefully reacquaint themselves with the rules for their respective disciplines and to ensure the Safe Use of Firearms principles are maintained at all times. It has been quite a time away from competitions, so a steady re start is the order of the day, with considerations for shared equipment, shared facilities and the safest operation of our sport at all times. At this stage, the SSAA WA State Executive is yet to convene with respect to a decision on State Title events, and with Interstate Border controls still in place, the resolution of National Title events is also yet to be resolved. As decisions are reached, in consultation with State and National discipline delegates we will advise the next phase of the resumption of all events for 2020. I would like to take this opportunity to express the sincerest gratitude of the SSAA WA State Executive to all SSAA WA Club Committees and SSAA WA Members across the State in their support of the decisions made and the uniform approach to dealing with this National crisis. Most of all Stay Safe and Enjoy Ron Bryant State President Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (WA) 5th June 2020
23.01.2022 Well done Kojonup
22.01.2022 Category H update New South Wales SSAA NSW have been in regular contact with the Firearms Registry regarding the requirement of completing attendances. SSAA NS...W have sought exemptions for all members at this time due to the escalating events regarding COVID-19. A decision is expected to be made shortly. Tasmania A spokesperson for the Tasmanian Police said a meeting was held earlier this week and it was agreed nationally that a reduction is justified. Most jurisdictions will be reviewing the requirements on 1 July to determine the impacts on social isolation at that time. A final position for Tasmania is expected to be formed in early July, which is anticipated to be either: a) Pro rata reduction of pistol participation rates based on the impacts of social isolation policy in Tasmania and Nationally (likely to be around a 50% reduction); or b) Complete removal of pistol participation rate requirements for the year 2020 if social isolation policy continues after 1 July. For the time being Category H licence holders can determine their participation knowing that there will be a sensible reduction in requirements based on the health risks to the community. All Tasmanian Pistol Clubs have been advised of this situation and many have decided to close their ranges now that they have the certainty of reduced requirements. Licensees are still required to submit participation rate record cards for 2019. Relevant bodies for ACT and Victoria have been contacted, SSAA is yet to receive a response.
20.01.2022 let's hope they throw the book at them

17.01.2022 Today I had the honor of presenting the cheque for the sponsorship (bounty) from the results of the SSAA Red Card for Rabbits and Fox shoots (redcard.org.au) . This year has as we all know, been a testing time for all and the overall tally was well down to previous years. SSAA WA made a decision to top up the donated amount going to the Regional Mens Health Initiative to $20,000 to help make sure in these telling times that this initiative receives our combined support. It sh...ould also not go unnoticed the work of the local coordinators such as Erlanda, Kirby and my good mate Leisa amongst a raft of others who make it all happen as well as the various sponsors who pitch in as well at a local level in the various fox shoot events with over a 1000 shooters volunteering to help bring feral pests to account. 11.01.2022 The SSAA(WA) would like to take the opportunity to remember Ross Collins who sadly passed away on August 26th. Ross grew up in the country and learned to shoot at a very early age, and as he put it, 'What we shot is what we ate'. An avid hunter and shooter his entire life, Ross can be seen in the photo below sighting in his favourite .308 BSA rifle.... Ross was one of the founding members of the Benchrest Rifle Club at Chidlows, the group that eventually became the SSAA (WA) where he became the first treasurer. Ross was a valued member of the shooting community and his enthusiasm, dedication and participation will be missed. Ron SSAA (WA)

05.01.2022 SSAA WA met with Wapol senior personnel this week to discuss the current licensing issues that members are facing in relation to the Covid restrictions Wapol have committed to review the declined applications with applicants being invited to re-apply in a simple process , original lodged forms such as the serviceability certificates will be recognized saving a burden on the applicant and the gunshops. WA Police Force Licensing Services Firearms ask that those affected do ...not attend Australia Post outlets and re submit their application but rather wait to be contacted by Licensing Services -Firearms who will give you the option to reinstate your application. Further details on this process will be sent directly to affected applicants and licence holders and the SSAA WA will communicate further details to members in the next few days on how it will be managed. Many other issues are being worked through such as when will the shops open and we would ask our members to be patient in these difficult times
