20.01.2022 Eastern Ospreys nesting on crane. They have a revolving site as the crane acts like a huge weather vane. If these are the same ones, this would be their second attempt to raise young on this site. They could be the same ones that have attempted to do so on four previous occasions in the area. Will they succeed this time? Will the ravens let them? The Osprey is a medium sized fish-eating raptor. For more info see: http://birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/eastern-osprey

16.01.2022 NPA SSB calls for action on protecting this important area and thus help secure this population of koalas. Without this action all words from government are hollow and meaningless. No species can survive without its habitat.

08.01.2022 The Australasian Grebe ( Tachybaptus novaehollandiae) is an endearing bird of our waterways. It is an excellent swimmer and diver, and usually dives immediately when alarmed and swims away under water.

05.01.2022 https://tinyurl.com/yafu3nmp Sanctuaries in marine parks can help to rejuvenate sea life where many pressures have led to urchin barrens and diminished ecosystems. This groundbreaking documentary shows what can be lost without the NSW Government trusting the science behind sanctuaries to better protect our local marine waters dominated by the east Coast Current

04.01.2022 The three falls of National Falls in Royal National Park. Who knew that there is a Secret Garden and Secret Cave there as well?

03.01.2022 Dendrobium coal mine expansion arguments will no doubt emphasise the jobs dependent on continued mining in our drinking water catchment. Just to balance this constant argument here are some recent research findings on how "green steel" that doesn't depend on coking coal could help economic recovery, job creation and create massive greenhouse gas savings. Catherine Reynolds, Ross JeffreeSharyn Andersen, Brian Everingham. And for our local area, threatened vertebrates and the endangered Giant Dragonfly will be better protected if our threatened upland swamps are not undermined. We need to be determined to fight the destructive expansion of this habitat destroying and water risking venture that needs to be reconsidered in the light of available alternatives and pressing reasons for phasing out coal mining sooner rather than later.

02.01.2022 Yet more evidence that the NSW Government needs to act on evidence to stop the koala carnage on Heathcote Road.

02.01.2022 The Branch wishes to congratulate the Minister for the Environment, Matt Kean, for the purchase of Narriearra Station. Both the Nature Conservation Council (1981) and the National Parks Association (1992) advocated for the protection of this important area and this is a great achievement.
