21.01.2022 WARNING infografx is alarming for #MelbsWest Planning Minister, Richard Wynne MP, last year approved West Gate Tunnel Project even though its Air Quality Study ONLY included vehicle exhaust in the air quality modelling. No tyre, no brake wear The infographic from Sustrans (in UK) shows air pollutant pm10 from road transport as exhaust + break/tyre wear. Daniel Andrews Gov’s own expert, Dr Lyn Denison, advised the method used in the West Gate Tunnel’s Air Quality Stud...y had significantly understated pollution - http://bit.ly/2FHOvKou It ... did not account for the impact of road dust and brake and tyre wear, while pollution caused by increased traffic on local streets used as feeder roads .... I am of the opinion that the approach to modelling conducted for the AQIA [the government's Air Quality Impact Assessment] is likely to underestimate the impacts of emissions from the road tunnels. So with only 25% of pm10 pollutants modelled did EPA or Minister for Health, Jill Hennessy, fight for nearby residents? No. Fast forward to September 2018, & talk of Air Quality Statement or new legislation for EPA, still leave us with this monstrosity for generations to come & no mitigation. Victorian Labor & Daniel Andrews yet to commit to Melbourne Metro 2 or additional open space for those living close by. Bad science, not accepted elsewhere = best practice for #MelbsWest #Election2018
