25.01.2022 Ohhhh I was just reminded its Saka Dawa today. Happy Saka Dawa! Good karma for kind actions done today are multiplied by 100 million. Bad karma for unkind act...ions also multiplied by 100 million. Do as many kind acts as you can today. (I know youre all kind, but extend it even further today!) See more
24.01.2022 I wish with all my heart that this opportunity may result in us being more wise & compassionate, realising how interdependent we all are and learning to look after each other with loving kindness.
24.01.2022 Tomorrow, 5 Nov 7.30pm, we meditate on self-compassion. Come along if you need to fill your cup.
23.01.2022 If you think you cant meditate or youre not sure if youre doing it correctly, lighten up & come join us this Tuesday 7.30pm for some joyful resting. My introduction to joyful resting came from one of my favourite meditation teachers, Buddhist psychotherapist Renate Ogilvie, who says "in joyful resting, were not after results. Were not chasing after anything or any feeling. All were doing is resting. Its like dancing. You dont do it to arrive anywhere. You do it because you enjoy it and who doesnt enjoy resting even for just five minutes."

14.01.2022 No matter whether you are a believer or a non-believer, religious or not religious, a Christian, Hindu, or a scientist, black or white, an Easterner or a Westerner, the most important thing to know is your own mind and how it works. Lama Thubten Yeshe
13.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the growing concerns over the Corona Virus we are going to have to postpone Sutherland Shire Meditation Group classes until further notice. Our sponsor, the Vajrayana Insititue takes our health very seriously and are putting these protective measures in place to stop the spread of the virus. Vajrayana Insititue is now live-streaming all their classes including guided meditation and I hope that you will benefit from these classes from your home, whilst p...rotecting everyones health the best we can. If you attend these virtual-classes, I wish that you consider donating to the Centre, who relies on peoples generosity to continue to offer these classes and serve our world-wide family. Wishing everyone safety, happiness, good health and an easy life. Looking forward to seeing you all again at Sutherland Shire Meditation Group, when conditions have changed and the timing is right https://vajrayana.com.au/important-information/ See more

11.01.2022 I really really wish that this world becomes a better place from this virus teaching us how inter-connected we all are, how we are all the same in that we all want happiness & dont want to suffer, & how we all seek asylum from danger so can we please be kind to Asylum Seekers...and can Australia please start with freeing our Asylum seekers trapped here in indefinite detention. Love & kindness is the cause of true happiness. May the kindness pandemic spread everywhere!

08.01.2022 Hope to see you all at Wai Cheongs 4 week course starting this Tues 4 Feb 7.30pm "Calm-abiding Meditation - How to ease our way into meditative absorption". (If you cant attend each of the 4 weeks, youre welcome to come whenever you can.) If you wish to lie down to meditate, bring your own yoga mat if you have one as we may run out of them. The meditative experience of calmness & stillness within is something that we may long for, especially in response to the stress & a...gitation we experience in our daily life. In this course we will take a hands-on approach to investigate how to actualize the simple steps to cultivate the conditions for this state of calm-abiding, such as settling into our posture, reconnecting body & mind, and promoting the arising of pleasant blissful sensations in order to gain access to inner stillness amidst an active modern lifestyle. All are welcome; no prerequisite required. Each weekly session includes guided meditations, explanations and time for Q&A. Entry by donation.
07.01.2022 Vajrayana Institute, the Buddhist Centre that sponsors our meditation group are offering live youtube streaming of all their guided meditation, Buddhist classes & retreats. I hope that many people will benefit from these classes whilst our group is postponed due to covid-19. Venerable Dekyi, a wonderful teacher, is guiding meditation each Sunday at 10.30am - highly recommended. Wai Cheong guides meditation each Wednesday at 6pm - another highly recommended https://vajrayana.com.au/live-stream-schedule/
06.01.2022 This Tuesday 26/11 7.30pm, we meditate on gratitude, focusing on all we have, rather than what else we want. All welcome, freely offered
06.01.2022 Unfortunately, Sutherland Shire Meditation Group will be unable to re-open until August 2020. Council advised that the hall would be available for hire from 1 July, but the Vajrayana Institute (VI), who hires the hall on our behalf, closes down 1 July to 3 August. We rely on VI to cover us with the compulsory insurance cover, so are unable to commit to hiring the hall until VI resumes in August. Hopefully the hall will still be available for our group then. Im really missing our Group, but unfortunately can not see any alternative to this course of action. I will update you on the situation early August, hopefully with good news. Hope you are all well & still benefitting from your meditation practice, in these difficult times.

05.01.2022 This Tuesday 19/11 7.30pm, joyful resting meditation....when times are too hectic, maybe we just need to lighten up and rest in awareness. All welcome! Free, donations welcome.
03.01.2022 Tonight we meditate using the word "release" - a very helpful mantra in my experience. We practise in meditation to release any tension or discomfort held in the body and any harmful thoughts or feelings which arise in the mind. And we can develop a helpful habit of using this mantra through our daily challenges & difficult situations.
03.01.2022 This is the great book we mentioned tonight. There is a link to a free online version on this website: https://www.lamayeshe.com//becoming-your-own-therapist-mak
