22.01.2022 This week has been busy here at sweet shepherd rescue. We brought in a beautiful distressed girl with awful ears on Tuesday and today we brought in Yuki. For now we will do yukis welcome This darling 4yr old is all bounce and play. With her gorgeous coat and fun personality she will definitely make an amazing family member. She will be up for adoption soon.

Chinook is small compared to your normal husky, his stature coming from his cross parentage, though his looks, personality and day to day requirements are all husky traits. At 23kgs Chinook is and will always be small and light enough for cuddles on the couch, he is a lapdog, he craves affection and is very content to be snuggled up with you. Chinook is a beautiful boy and if you are a confident, calm person, experienced with husky’s or other high-drive breeds, please read on. The home we are seeking for Chinook is within a quiet calm environment, ideally someone works from home, or works part-time or is a stay at home person, Chinook loves to be around people, he is not suited to being home alone long hours at a time. Children within the home aged 10 plus, experienced around similar breeds are suited. Fencing on the property needs to be husky-secure top & bottom also. Chinook is house trained, once he has settled in, crate trained and is comfortable using a doggy-door. If you have another dog, Chinook can be re-homed with dogs of similar energy to keep up with him, your dog must love to play and run, a submissive male or female, medium to large breed only. Outside of the home, Chinook is dog friendly when he is out on lead, (providing no incitement from off-lead dogs up close), he loves this part of his routine, having learnt picking up the leash means walk time. If your heading off for an errand, Chinook loves his drives, he is calm, quiet and relaxed in the car. If you wish to undertake any training with Chinook, he would excel as he loves to please and is a quick learner, positive reinforcement method of training has worked very well in care. 19.01.2022 Hi followers I wanted to have a chat with you all about aging dogs Hard topic to discuss ... i know ...but our shepherds are amazing creatures! The older they get the more ailments present as they live longer and older then their predecessors. One of our shepherds reached just over 17 years old and still wanted to play and enjoy life. ... Our sweet shepherd seniors have huge regimens to keep them healthy and happy. That is everything from 8 weekly grooming for non skin conditioned dogs (weekly or 3rd daily for those with skin and itch problems) to physio/massage/acupuncture, special beds for orthopedic care and regular medication to name a few topics. I could write a thesis on the care of each dog as each one is obviously different in their requirements. Most however develop a degree of cartilage issues, arthritis, mild or moderate hip displaysia, elbow or knee problems and the notorious splenic or liver hemangiosarcoma eventually causing their sudden demise. However i can't discuss all the above (i might consider doing small blogs on caring for the elderly?) Today i want to discuss arthritis and general pain in our aging dogs. My newly found super drug discovered about 10 months ago when we were considering Euthanasia for one of our dogs with horrifically painful spine post an infection in one of her vertebra. Nothing had seemed to work other then strong narcotics. Antinol has saved more then one shepherd from being PTS due to pain or arthritic changes causing lameness. I can't speak highly enough of it. When approached to see if they could help as we were using huge amounts for lots of shepherds in care they donated tablets and told us they didn't need the acknowledgments they just wanted to help the shepherds! So i won't talk about their amazing kindness..... instead ill talk about their life saving product!! We currently have 14 shepherds in care on antinol. Doing extremely well with conditions such as partial acl tears, arthritis, degenerative myelopathy, age related illness, post elbow surgical care, OCD in one of our younger cases, 2 spinal care dogs and one of our gsds with bilateral knee surgery. I wouldn't publicly brag about a product if it hadn't completely blown me away ! We have reduced pain killers in all our cases, minimized NSAIDS and withdrawn opiods from one. If i can't sell you from the above im not sure how to but if you have an ageing dog or one of your sheps predisposed to arthritis this is the medication you should be on. It compliments other medication and isn't instead of but can certainly help you reduce your current medication regime Best thing mishy loves the taste Antinol Australia

Rescue dogs and shepherds at that "Joe and Jill fostered major at first when their daughter showed them a litter of puppies needing to be temporarily homed. Naturally, the pair became somewhat set on Major and adopted him from the Delaware Humane Society".

08.01.2022 Our gorgeous beauty would love to say a huge thank you to SavourLife AND Best Friends who donated $793.33 as apart of their fundraising. We can't thank you enough as that money was used to save akira and cover her medical bills. You have changed her life. One life that will never suffer again ... BELOW ARE BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS POST FROM AUGUST INTAKE On the 4th of August 2020 Sweet Shepherd Rescue Australia Inc received a phone call regarding a girl needing urgent intake. She was approx. 3 & half years old, moved from home to home to home, litter born approx. 18 weeks ago, ears full of haematoma’s and life spent outside on concrete. We were warned of possible mammary tumours, elbow concerns, horrific ears and huge financial expenditure to take this girl on Other rescues who assessed her were unable to take her in due numerous reasons, but we, at Sweet Shepherd Rescue Australia Inc did not hesitate and everything was arranged for Akira to be handed over from her owner straight to the shelter and immediately to us. From handover Akira’s destination was to one place only, to Sweet Shepherd Rescue Australia Inc specialist vet team for whatever work is necessary. This involved parvo tests due to bleeding while defecating, x-rays of hips and elbows, surgical care and flushing of her ears as well as antibiotic ointment applied deep into the cauliflower ear canals. She was spayed and vaccinated whilst under anaesthetic. Our main goal with these medical cases is getting them pain free and comfortable ready to start their new life. Akira has now gone into a nice warm home with a foster mum to care for her. She will be on antibiotics due to the infection in her gut that we will be monitoring closely. She will then return to the vets in a week for another dose of medication into her ear canal and a check-up. She will get a much needed groom as soon as she is well enough. Just like that the world has changed for Akira, no more litters and no more tied up outside in the elements. We can’t change the world, but for this dog, we have made the world of difference.
