20.01.2022 This is with the saddest of news that I have heard this afternoon that Connie Carroll recently passed away. I don’t know all the details but watch this space and I will keep you informed as information comes to hand. Rest in peace Connie. We lost contact after with with the home and just recently established contact again but you never told me about your illness. Your smile will always be remembered. Love Billy North

20.01.2022 To each and every person who has viewed this site or made a comment or had any interest in St Albans, May 2017 bring you everything positive and may we leave the negatives of 2016 behind us. Despite the Royal commission handing down its findings by the end of this year coming, it's the survivors that we wish the best for. You all take care and all the best regards Billy North

18.01.2022 would a Neil Terrence Thorpe 29.10.51 ring a bell to anyone?

17.01.2022 Les Doyle has gratefully provided this photo (circa 1966) of the boys taken in the TV or Recreation Room at St Albans Aberdare. Thanks Les..

16.01.2022 Is anybody interested in a reunion at some stage in the future. If so contact Billy North on 0435 124 988. due to the enormous amount of spam calls I guess, I have changed my settings so that my phone will automatically divert to voicemail if it is a private number or the number is not in my phone book, so please leave a message and I will call you back. Bat on

16.01.2022 A lot of the boys and girls who left the home joined the ADF AND Proudly Served Our nation

16.01.2022 May they rest in peace together

09.01.2022 A Place where only love was provided to children who otherwise were abandoned or had no parents or a family to look after them. This is a tribute to matron Dulcie Barry and her husband Ron who from about 1968 till 1980 looked after well over 100 children. Yes we were disciplined, yes we were Loved, yes we got a good education, yes we were fed three solid meals a day. They took the place of our parents who in many cases didn’t give a damn. Connie Carroll has now joined you in heaven and I’m sure you were there waiting to welcome Her into your arms just as you did so many years ago here on earth. You are so dearly remembered!

09.01.2022 At the age of 53 I am still yet to come across anybody who would be willing to take on the challenges of Joe and matron. We see many stories on a current affair and various other TV programmes. But they committed their whole lives virtually to providing love attention and guidance to children who had fallen on hard times. The biggest difference between them and most others is the numbers I don't think anybody could possibly provide an accurate figure of how many children passed through St Albans. It would surely have to be in the hundreds. Outstanding in any language race or religion. A credit to their faith in humanity.

06.01.2022 Graham Smith on the right hand side. 40 years after the photo with matron and just a few weeks before he passed away Sad news with the passing of Grahame Smith. He was one of the originals and Matron and Ron were very proud of him as he was the only one to continue at the home to finish year 12...RIP mate

02.01.2022 In light of the current information being discussed at the Royal Commission in Newcastle at the moment, and the allegations regarding certain people, I have decided to cancel the 8th October Reunion and perhaps put it up again for those interested in mid to late 2018. The Commission must hand down its findings by the end of 2017 and I think it would be inappropriate until those findings are handed down and people have time to absorb what has "really taken place" and during wh...ich "time periods". To all those following or taking part in the proceedings and are being affected by them, remember, you have the support of 100''s of thousands of people if not millions. Your courage and your strength will hopefully get you through these terrible times. Notwithstanding that, this should have happened years ago. It was only through the diligence and persistence of people like Michael Elliot that we have progressed this far.

01.01.2022 Some of you may have noticed this fb page has been offline for a couple of weeks. I had to make some changes to it and have just had the opportunity to make sure that they worked. I am getting alot of feedback about those looking forward to the reunion on the 8th October this year, but I need numbers, not rumours. please email me on [email protected] if you are coming and the amount of people who will be attending with you. Finally thank you for the support of this site. It has been overwhelming.
