19.01.2022 MIDDLE YEARS WEEK 10 ASSEMBLY We had a great end-of-term assembly this week in Middle Years. Our amazing Year 6 & 7 Band played for us and the beautiful voices of our VOSTA group sang for us. New awards were launched; The St Andrew’s Way Learning Award and Community Award, both of which are designed to promote a positive learning and community culture. The postcard certificates were designed by 4 of our talented Middle Years students! Students are nominated by their fellow students or teachers and many of our Middle Years students were the first ones to receive this new award. A BIG assembly for Middle Years in the run home for Term 3!

15.01.2022 UNIFORM DONATIONS Our Health Centre is in need of donations of uniforms across all sectors of the school! If you have any old or outgrown uniforms please kindly donate to our Health Centre. As we all know there are many reasons in a day that a student could need a replacement uniform and the Health Centre comes to the rescue! Also, if your child has needed to borrow a uniform this term, please return it clean to the Health Centre. Thank you all!

14.01.2022 WHAT'S A YARNING CIRCLE? Put simply, Yarning is about building respectful relationships. The use of a yarning circle (or dialogue circle) is an important process within Aboriginal culture and Torres Strait Islander culture. The yarning circle has been used by Indigenous peoples from around the world for centuries to learn from a collective group, build respectful relationships, and to preserve and pass on cultural knowledge. ... Some of our staff and students had the privilege of being part of our new College yarning circle on Tuesday, good stories & great damper! See more

10.01.2022 During Week 9, Year 5 students at St Andrew’s Catholic College came to school with suitcases, pillows and a lot of excitement. They were going to camp! After a bus trip up the Kuranda Range, the students arrived at the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre. The camp was organised around four groups. There were Emus, Kangaroos, Brolgas and Turtles. Each group got to do many fun activities. There were low-ropes courses, high ropes vertical ladders, kayaking, orienteering an...d of course eating lots of yummy food. After three days at the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre, the students ( & the teachers!) were tired, & pretty glad to get on the bus to go back home. It was great for the students to be able to go on their first camp and to be able to do in it a year where not many excursions have been possible. New friends were made and some memories that they’ll never forget. See more
