25.01.2022 Congratulations to Mr Andrew Fuller (surgeon). Today he celebrates his 1000th Robotic-assisted procedure performed at St Andrew's.

23.01.2022 Given the recent increase in COVID-19 cases within South Australia, St Andrew's has today put in place a range of measures to protect the health and safety of our patients and valued workforce. This includes screening all persons entering the Hospital using the SA Health criteria (which can be accessed below and may be subject to change). https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au//testing+an/contact+tracing In addition, we have made the difficult decision to temporary restrict all ...visitors to the Hospital (except in exceptional circumstances), effective immediately (16th of November 2020). Further information and future updates can be viewed on our web site as follows: https://www.stand.org.au/coronavirus-information We understand that this may be difficult for some of our patients and we appreciate your cooperation in helping to keep everyone safe. We also seek to reassure family members that we will continue to do our utmost to provide care and support to your loved ones during their stay with us. Should you wish to speak with us, please feel free to call us anytime. We remind current and future patients that the Hospital offers complimentary Wifi. We encourage you to utilise FaceTime, Skype or other social media to remain connected with friends and loved ones during your stay with us.

18.01.2022 The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified September 13th of each year as World Sepsis Day. World Sepsis Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against sepsis. The WHO describes sepsis as the common final pathway of all acute infections. Sepsis occurs when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. This can result in shock, multiple organ failure and death, especially if sepsis is not recognised and treated prompt...ly. About 80% of cases of sepsis occur outside of hospitals. Anyone can get sepsis. 11,000,000 people die of sepsis every year. Early recognition and treatment can reduce sepsis mortality. St Andrew's Hospital acknowledged World Sepsis Day on Friday 11 September with a display in the staff cafeteria and Emergency Services had a sepsis awareness afternoon.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to the team behind the Pink & Blue Swim/Walk on their recent Australia Day award. We appreciate your on going support of St Andrew's Breast Care Services and enjoy being a part of this wonderful event.

10.01.2022 From SA Health. If you are severely unwell, such as having difficulty breathing, call 000 (Triple Zero) or go directly to a hospital emergency department. If you have travelled anywhere overseas in the past 14 days and have COVID-19 symptoms (especially fever or cough), seek testing at an official COVID-19 clinic or alternatively contact your GP (call ahead so your GP is prepared and aware of your travel history) and isolate yourself.... If you have NOT travelled overseas recently, but have symptoms or are feeling unwell, visit your usual health care provider as you normally would. Avoid contact with others if you are unwell. If you are worried but well, contact the National Coronavirus Information Hotline on 1800 020 080. COVID-19 CLINICS: Specialised SA Health-operated COVID-19 clinics are now located at Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre and Lyell McEwin Hospital. These clinics are only for people who have symptoms (especially fever or cough) AND have recently returned from overseas OR have had contact with a known COVID-19 case.

07.01.2022 We hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Please take the time to look at our website for the latest information regarding COVID-19. We have developed a special page on the site to ensure everyone has up to date information regarding St Andrew's Hospital.... https://www.stand.org.au/coronavirus-information

07.01.2022 In relation to the COVID-19 situation, St Andrew’s Hospital would like to reassure our current and future patients and their families that we are committed to slowing the rate of community transmission and protecting everyone within the Hospital’s community. Please be assured that we are following all the recommendations and guidelines from SA Health and the Federal Government. At this stage all planned procedures (including elective surgeries) will continue unless otherwise ...advised directly by your Specialist. Our Pre-Admission Clinic is contacting all patients on the day prior to their admission to screen and assess their risk of COVID-19. Patients who meet the high risk criteria will be advised not to attend. Patients that do not meet the exclusion criteria but may have other health concerns may be referred back to their Specialist to assess their suitability for admission to hospital, as per our normal process. Patients will also be screened on the day of admission to ensure their health condition has not changed. To ensure the health of our staff, patients and other visitors, we have put in place some visitor restrictions. Patients are asked to limit visitors to one at a time. Visitors identified as meeting the high risk criteria will be asked not to enter the Hospital. The Hospital is proactively encouraging all people who enter the Hospital to follow the hygiene and social distance advice to further protect against COVID-19. Internal measures have also been put in place to minimise the risk of transmission from members of staff (including volunteers and contractors) who meet high risk criteria for COVID-19. As this is an evolving situation, we will continue to keep you updated via our web site and Facebook. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact Hospital’s Reception on 08 8408 2111. Thank you for your cooperation. _____________________________________________________ If you believe you have been exposed to COVID 19: - If you are severely unwell, such as having difficulty breathing, call 000 (Triple Zero). - If you have travelled overseas in the past 14 days and have COVID-19 symptoms, contact your GP (advise your GP of your travel history and symptoms) and isolate yourself. - People who are unable to get an appointment with their GP and have travelled overseas AND have COVID-19 symptoms can visit one of the COVID-19 clinics. - If you have NOT travelled overseas recently, but are feeling unwell, visit your usual health care provider. Avoid contact with others if you are unwell.

03.01.2022 Due to COVID-19, a large number of our volunteers have not been able to participate in their usual activities at the hospital, but we are slowly welcoming them back. Volunteers are a crucial part of the St Andrew’s family, and their absence has been keenly felt! We miss our dedicated team and acknowledge their contribution as we celebrate National Volunteer Week. On behalf of our staff and patients, thank you for everything you do!

01.01.2022 COVID-19 Update for Patients and Visitors: We would like to assure all of our current and future patients, visitors and staff that we are taking a range of precautions to ensure everyone remains healthy in light of the COVID-19 situation. No visitors will be permitted to enter where they meet the high risk criteria (see below*), have respiratory symptoms or have... a temperature over 38 degrees celsius (temperature testing occurs at the front entrance); - Contacting all patients by phone on the day prior to admission to ensure that they do not meet the high risk criteria for COVID-19 (see below*). Patient temperature testing and additional screening also occurs on the day of admission; - Screening everyone who will be working in the Hospital upon entry each day, including daily temperature checks; - Closing our Volunteer run Coffee Shop to limit the spread and protect our valued volunteers. We understand that some of these restrictions will be difficult for our patients, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us to keep everyone healthy. * High Risk Criteria for COVID-19 (as at 27 March 2020): - Close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19? - Returned from overseas since 16th March? - Returned from interstate since 5pm on Sunday 22nd March? - Been on a passenger or crew member on a cruise ship and returned to Australia in the last 14 days ? - Been to Lyndoch Hill or Barossa Chateau from the 14th March?
