23.01.2022 Today is World Environment Day. This day has been celebrated every year on 5th June since 1974. The day proclaimed by the United Nations is about focusing global efforts and attention on a pressing environmental issue. This year we celebrate this day surrounded by pressing global health and welfare issues and at the same time examples of the resilience of the environment. This year Pope Francis inaugurated Laudato Si Week at the end of May commemorating the 5th anniversar...y of the publication of his eco-encyclical with the same title and opening a year-long commemoration of the document aimed at spurring global citizens to adopt more sustainable practices. At St Anthony's we continue to explore ways of taking up the call for ecological conversion and action. Our focus on waste reduction and re-cycling has been recognised through the work of Sue Hargreaves by successfully obtaining a grant to support our work in encouraging litter sorting. Thanks Sue for leading this work and encouraging us to be eco-warriors. Thanks also to Rob for his wonderful handiwork in building the first of our rubbish bin covers! See more
