The College ...Admin will have limited staff to be able to approve new members over the holiday period, so please join before the end of the year. 14.01.2022 Just waiting for our fabulous year 12 students to attend their 2020 Formal. So lucky we could celebrate despite the many restrictions in place. Looking forward to a great night.

14.01.2022 The Annual Archdiocese of Brisbane Catholic Campaign supports vital ministries around South East Queensland and relies on the generosity of our Catholic communities. The campaign this year is focusing on the amazing support from Centacare Brisbane. For most of us, the idea of being homeless is inconceivable, but for thousands of people in our local community the grief of not being able to provide a home for their children is very real. ... Would you join us in making a donation? It can be done here https://catholicfoundation.org.au/donate-catholic-church/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ivbp25bzGC0&feature=youtu.be #Centacare #ArchdioceseofBrisbane

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our XIII Rugby League Squad! This week the St Benedict's College First XIII Rugby League Squad played in The Matt Gillett Cup, against a number of traditional Rugby League Colleges including Padua, Iona, Mt Maria Mitchelton and Unity College to name a few. The boys played with great courage and determination which was a credit to themselves and to SBC. They qualified for the Matt Gillett Cup Division 3 Final.... The match was officiated by State Deputy Opposition Leader and former NRL Referee, Tim Mander (seen in the attached photo with SBC Captain Etuate Mataele). St Benedict's were declared joint winners of the Matt Gillett Cup (Division 3) and our inspirational skipper, "ET" was presented with the trophy by former Test, State of Origin and Broncos player, Matt Gillett. The SBC Team played with grit and resilience all week and were ably supported by parents, teachers, staff and fellow students each day. The conduct and sportsmanship of our young men was exemplary and their attitude earned the admiration and respect of opponents and officials alike. Great team effort!. #SBCspirit #MattGillettCup

11.01.2022 Sandstone Point delivers a fabulous night

11.01.2022 This morning at assembly we celebrated St Maurus, a Benedictine monk who founded Glanfeuil Abbey. Most notably the ‘Blessing of the Sick’ is attributed to him. Antoni, Maurus House leader along with Year 12 Maurus students, led prayer centered around caring for one another as Maurus did during his life. Lian, our Service Leader and Leynelle, our Community leader, addressed the assembly: Passing on the gratitude from The Breakfast Club, Redcliffe for SBC donations.... BMW casual dress day this Friday in College colours of blue, maroon or white, to support the Arrupe Education Centre for disabled students in Cambodia. Mental Health Week Vinnies Christmas hamper appeal invitation to donate #Stmaurus #Servicebalancecommunity #redcliffebreakfastclub

10.01.2022 Our Year 12 Student Leaders, led by our Service and Community Leaders, Lian and Leynelle, assisted some Year 7 students to make up over fifty Day packs and seventy Snack packs for the Breakfast Club Redcliffe, one of our Outreach partners. Due to COVID our Senior students have not been able to participate in our Outreach Programs since March and they have been missed! The Breakfast Club Redcliffe volunteers are always extremely grateful to receive these packs which will go ...straight into their van and onto the streets to assist those sleeping rough. This social justice focus during the term, tapped into our Catholic Social Teachings of Preferential Treatment for the Poor and the Common Good. Thank you to our generous SBC community for all the donations to make this contribution possible! A big shout out to our Volleyball teams and Staff who donated money raised from their recent tournament to enable more of these foods to be purchased. #thebreakfastclubredcliffe

09.01.2022 Congratulations to our graduating Year 12 students of 2020. We wish them blessings for their future. Special thanks to Ms Geissmann who has led this group through what has been a challenging year. Thank you as well to all the parents for their love, support and guidance to their sons and daughters over their high school years. A special thank you to Layton Turner (Year 12) for painting the Legacy gift from the Year 12's to the College.

08.01.2022 Due to COVID restrictions the planned Year 11 Biology Camp was unfortunately cancelled however, thanks to our Science team, two 1-day trips to Stradbroke Island were put together that linked perfectly to the Biology Curriculum. Our Year 11 Biology Students ventured outside of the classroom to study the various ecosystems on Stradbroke Island. Students explored the many beautiful and varied habitats on the island and ran scientific investigations. The main focus of the investi...gations were to examine the flora and fauna on the island and the various adaptations that each has to enable it to survive. Pictured is Morgan Locke holding a sea cucumber she found on the mudflats, and Emily Pearce taking notes.

07.01.2022 Our Year 7's have been cooking up a storm in Food Technology class recently. Here the boys are displaying a modified Zucchini Slice to include more vegetables and make it more appealing to teenagers. As you can see, the slice looks delicious and these students are very proud of their culinary skills.

07.01.2022 Welcome back to Term 4. We hope you had a relaxing two week break, feeling refreshed and ready to jump into learning. Remember though, there is only 80 days until Christmas

05.01.2022 Our Year 9 and 10 students participated in a number of careers activities, providing them with the opportunity to develop competencies in a range of skills such as communication, collaboration, initiative, leadership, teamwork, workplace behaviour and networking. These sessions focused around career development and work readiness including resume preparation and mock interviews. Our workshops also provided advice and guidance in key areas such as growth mindset, goal setting and resilience development. They also had the opportunity to hear some of the diverse career stories of SBC staff to give them an insight into the many twists and turns of career development. Year 9's were asked to come dressed in business attire and I think this small group has dressed to impress.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 7 student, Rohan Fenwick, on his recent success in his AMEB Piano Exam. Rohan achieved an A+ (High Distinction) in Grade 5 Piano. The Australian Music Examination Board grades instruments through Levels 1- 8. To achieve a High distinction, the student must demonstrate outstanding achievement in meeting the syllabus objectives, which includes performance flair, consistent technical fluency and penetrating stylistic insight. For those who would like ...to hear the piece he played, please refer to our Showcase 2020 post on Monday, Rohan plays the same piece at the 5.00 minute mark. Well done Rohan on your outstanding achievement! You certainly show dedication and a passion for the Piano.

04.01.2022 Here at St Benedict's College, Mango Hill, we want to ensure a holistic and inclusive educational environment for every child. We realise and appreciate the tremendous opportunities a quality Catholic education provides, and hope to extend this to those in our community who do not have the means to provide this to their children. Through support to the Mary MacKillop Brisbane Catholic School Access Fund (Mackillop Fund), our College is helping families from all walks of life,... with different experiences of extreme hardship, trauma and financial devastation. What they share in common is a deep desire for their child to receive a Catholic education. Can you contribute in some small way? Donate to the fund here https://catholicfoundation.org.au//provide-education-bur/ https://www.youtube.com/watch #MaryMacKillop
