22.01.2022 Essential Energy has accepted an application for St Benedict's to receive support from the Community Choices Fund (up to $2,500 each registrant) the amount of which will be paid is contingent on them getting lots of Community Votes for this charity. I NEED TO ADD:- The site is a little bit fiddly, people who want to click should Nominate Region 5 and Life Resources Centre Inc. (auspice for St Benny’s) to make a proper Vote. Clicke here to vote: https://apc01.safeli...nks.protection.outlook.com/ And you can vote every day until June 18!!!

19.01.2022 A big thank you to our volunteers who have had to quickly adapt to the new way of working. We have reduced the number of volunteers in the kitchen and are still preparing about 50 meals a day for our guests to take away. We are now able to start giving these meals out from about 11am onwards. We are wishing all our volunteers who are staying at home all the best! Stay well and safe!!

18.01.2022 Our cupboards are becoming empty. We need non-perishable food items to provide emergency food hampers for people in need. Food items need include soups, cans of fruit, canned meals, baked beans, cans of tuna, pasta, pasta sauce. Contact the centre for more information and/or to arrange times to drop items off!

17.01.2022 Queanbeyan is getting closer.

16.01.2022 This is to let everyone now our current response to the COVID 19 situation. Please understand that the situation is still all in flux about how we continue to deliver services to our guests, and look after the health and well being of staff , volunteers, guests and HOME residents, in a time of rapid change and anxiety. As of 20th March, St Benedict's is closing to drop in clientele coming into the building. However, we still need to provide food and meals to our guests - ma...ny who at the best of times do not have ready access to these. This means we are working on ways to get meals to people and at this stage we are still cooking meals, but giving them to guests outside the building. Staff are still working with vulnerable and marginalised people, but will be meeting people outside or at other venues at a safe social distance!!! Other services that use St Benedict's such as Legal Aid will not be coming in, and we are working on ways to connect people with services via phone. We still need people to help in the kitchen to make sure that a steady supply of meals is available both for St Benedict's guests and for HOME residents. If need be we will be freezing these meals so that they can be distributed away from site. MOST IMPORTANTLY we need everyone to take care of their health and wellbeing. If staff and volunteers are unable to come in due to illness, or feel the need for self isolation we will support them in that decision. As per normal, we do rely upon donations from the community to help our guests, especially around essential food supplies. We will keep you informed as things change - especially if we have to move off site. Do not hesitate to contact Elaine if your require further information.

16.01.2022 And we are starting to run out of short term options for people as well....

05.01.2022 We have made it through Day 1 of our new arrangements. Lunch was still delicious and we were able to give our regular guests a good meal to take away. Staff have spent a lot of time on the phone helping others stay connected and get assistance regarding accommodation.
