23.01.2022 There will be some tired Year 6 students this evening (and maybe some staff as well) after a successful day of surfing up on the Sunshine Coast. We could not be more proud of these kids in the way they conducted themselves today. So much fun was had.

21.01.2022 Do you have a little one starting Prep for the first time, or a child who may be anxious about starting school? Check out this article ‘How to prepare a child anxious about starting school’. 20.01.2022 This Wednesday students are invited to get into the Christmas Spirit and wear items of Christmas clothing... a shirt, hat, hair accessories etc. Whilst we are not able to gather as a whole school for our traditional carols, classes will still be singing away as a year level and having a merry old time.

16.01.2022 If your child is participating in Christmas holiday borrowing, please encourage them to come prepared on Thursday and Friday this week. They will need to have no overdue books outstanding, as well as their library bag and an extra bag if they are borrowing 7-10 books.

16.01.2022 Yesterday the Year 5 Students participated in a crazy hair day as part of their own leadership to promote social justice and action in our community. Check out some of their awesome creations!

15.01.2022 PLEASE HELP ... We still have around 200 overdue books, over $4000 worth! Please search at home for any overdue books and return these ASAP. Thanks

14.01.2022 Starting Prep is such an exciting time. We can’t wait to welcome all of our Prep learners in just a few weeks time to our St Benedict’s community. To help ensure your child has the best start to Prep, remember to be working on the following skills to help them become school ready.

14.01.2022 Happy New Year Families and Friends of St Benedict's. Our 2021 school year is not too far away. Staff head back to work this week and will engage in a series of professional learning and development days. Keep an eye on your emails everyone this Friday as a detailed communication will be sent outlining all details relating to the first week of school. Our Office reopens tomorrow. If you have any questions regarding the new school year, please give us a call or pop in to see us.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to Miss Wathen from Prep B on being formally and fully initiated into the Catholic Church this morning at St Benedict’s Parish. A beautiful ceremony.

09.01.2022 Some of our work we installed at St Benedict’s Mango Hill today. Another set of bag racks, which we customised to fit a tricky space. Also some lockable enclosures for housing sports equipment. Easy for the kids to access at playtime but can be locked up out of school hours.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to our Year 6 students who celebrated their graduation today. We are so proud of you. Parents, photos will be available in the coming days.

07.01.2022 At the commencement of 2020 there were some grand plans afoot to build and promote a culture whereby there would be numerous opportunities to strengthen the engagement of families within our school. We initiated FACE Teams (Family and Community Engagement) but unfortunately not much really eventuated due to the onset of COVID. Our plans really took a back seat as parents and families were kept at an arms length from our school. There was, and has been, nothing ideal about the... situation we landed in. We are not giving up on the possible benefits of family and community engagement here at St Benedict’s. We are endeavouring to give it another try in 2021. Family and Community Engagement Teams (FACE Teams) will therefore be established for each year level. A meeting is planned for this evening 23rd November at 6:30pm in the Staff Collaboration Space. We will be talking about Family and Community Engagement at St Benedict’s in 2021 and initiate discussions around what it could look like next year, even if the impact of COVID is still being felt. Your voice will count, and we would love to hear from you.

04.01.2022 Out with the old toilet flooring in the undercover area and in with the new. Easier for long term maintenance and hygiene.

04.01.2022 Hair Cuts at St Benedict's As students prepare to return to school in a few weeks it might be timely to remind families of our expectations around the appropriate grooming of hair. The key things to remember about correct grooming of hair are:... 1. Hairstyles not permitted include mohawks, mullets, rat tails, shaved tracks or coloured hair. 2. Hair should be no shorter than #2. 3. Hair longer than collar length should be tied back at all times with appropriate school colour hair ties and or ribbon. Thanks for your support with this.

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Mrs Shears on her retirement from teaching. Today we had a special outdoor celebration to celebrate Heddy’s career and time atSt Benedict’s. She embraced the lovely cards provided to her by students from each class as she wandered through the school on her very own gratitude walk. We will miss your creativity Heddy. You have inspired the inner creativity in all of us.
