21.01.2022 HARRY’S NIGHT TO REMEMBER AS SBC OLD BOYS SHINE 2015 graduate Harry Grant lit up Suncorp Stadium last night as he realized a boyhood dream by representing his state in rugby leagues most competitive arena. Harry who hails from Yeppoon played a starring role for Queensland in last nights series clinching State Of Origin match against old rivals the NSW Blues. In what could only be described as a 10/10 performance, Harry scored a try and made several line breaks to help put th...e nail in the Blues coffin. An old boy of the college, Harry can be seen every off season gracing the main field at SBC, running, passing and kicking balls in an effort to improve his game. Harry is a local through and through and credits part of his success to being a St Brendan’s College student. Having played his trade under the watchful eye of former First XIII coach Terry Hansen, his game went to new levels and ultimately provided the springboard he needed to succeed. We are all looking forward to seeing more of Harry in both the NRL and State Of Origin series in future. The college community are very proud of what he has achieved in the game to date. The college also recognises the effort of another old boy, Ben Hunt who contributed to the success of the Maroons in the latest series.

12.01.2022 SCHOOLTV SPECIAL REPORT: Having the Alcohol Discussion With the impending festive season and end of school celebrations, some teenagers may be feeling ready to party, wanting to put the disruptions, frustrations and disappointments of this past year, behind them. To ensure our young people stay safe during this time, parents and carers are encouraged to have the alcohol discussion - no matter how difficult or overwhelming it may be. It is important to outline the rules and bo...undaries around age-appropriate alcohol consumption and what the legal implications may be. Young people are at greater risk of alcohol-related harm than adults because their brains continue to develop until their mid-twenties. The safest level of alcohol consumption for teenagers, is no alcohol at all, but this may be difficult to enforce and may not prevent them from experimenting. However, parents and carers can influence sensible drinking habits and help minimise the risks. In this Schooltv Special Report, a series of discussion points are offered to help make the conversation about alcohol consumption a little easier. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback. If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the College for further information or seek medical or professional help. 11.01.2022 REMEMBERANCE DAY St Brendan’s College remember those who have died in the line of duty affording us the peace and privilege we are blessed with today. At 11am join us and all Australians to observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.... God of love and liberty, in whose hands are the destinies of this and every nation, we give you thanks for the freedoms we enjoy in this land and for those who laid down their lives to defend them. We pray that we and all the people of Australia, gratefully remember their courage and their sacrifice. May we have the grace to live in a spirit of justice, of generosity, and of peace. We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen The Ode "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
