24.01.2022 Our vision at St Clares is to form heart and minds to make a difference. Over the past few weeks we have been striving to make a difference to the lives of the homeless and the poor by providing cans of food to Vinnies Wollongong to distribute to the needy. We wore our Pyjamas to school to remind us that many homeless and poor people dont have a choice in the clothes that they get to wear each day.

23.01.2022 Each year St Clares participates in the Mayor For The Day Competition which is held by Camden Council. Year 6 students had the opportunity to create a short speech on why they would like to be Mayor for the day, and some of the things they would do as Mayor. Laila was chosen this year, and her video was sent to Camden council and viewed by the Mayor who then decided the winners. Laila In my speech, I talked about preserving Camdens acres of untouched land and making Cam...den more sustainable. I also went on to talk about making Camdens history more known by having little stands around significant places. I discussed fixing Camdens roads, footpaths and parks and just generally making sure Camden is a safe place for all. Lastly, I thought about implementing things to make Camden inclusive (especially for those who are disabled). It was a great experience and opportunity for me and others to share our opinions and imagine ourselves as Mayor.

05.01.2022 The members of the Year 6 Environmental Committee have been doing a great job in looking after our school vegetable gardens. Last term, this group planted a variety of seedlings such as lettuce, silverbeet, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, kale and Asian stir fry vegetables. Their hard work is beginning to pay off as a number of these vegetables are almost ready for harvesting. It has been great to witness this group of students giving up part of their break times to water and weed these gardens.

The Mini Vinnies Canned Food drive collected almost 2500 cans being donated by the generous families in our school, which will be distributed by Vinnies Wollongong to the people of our area who most need help at this time. The Mini Vinnies team would like to thank everyone for their contributions and for their continued support of their activities.
