24.01.2022 In a Lebanese church, a group of volunteers are making sandwiches to give to those affected by the Beirut explosion. Zalloukh found safety in Beirut, Lebanon af...ter fleeing from the war in Syria. But on 4 August 2020, she felt her life, and the lives of her two young children, were at risk again. I was putting my nine-month-old to sleep when the explosion happened, she said. I shouted Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! He had saved me many times before. I was sure he would save me now too. Zalloukh’s family has no income. They survived with the help of a Centre of Hope supported by Open Doors. There she received milk and other life-sustaining resources. Without the milk help, my baby would have died, she said. Now, Zalloukh is helping others. Every day she goes to church to help those in need, including those also impacted by the Beirut explosion. Please pray for believers like Zalloukh, and those in need in Lebanon

I’ve... had to ask, why does that criticism find no emotional traction with me? Is it because I’m unfeeling or unsympathetic, I thought? Or is it because I am doggedly but cheerlessly faithful to the text which clearly speaks of sin and judgment? No, I thought, it’s actually because God brought ME to life through conviction of judgment. I can remember as an 11 year old, knowing God would judge me and that I deserved condemnation, the hell of eternal separation from Him. I knew that. But the same word of God that brought me conviction of that also told me He would forgive me if I turned back to Him. And I found found then and I’ve since found that nothing is better, nothing more comforting, nothing that gives you greater confidence in the present, nothing that gives you a surer hope than being a sinner reconciled to the living God through the death of His Son.
