25.01.2022 What a wonderful few weeks Jodi Weisz (Class of 2020) has had. In addition to his collection of photographs being selected to feature in ARTEXPRESS in 2021, Jodi’s business, ‘JGW Photography’, was the winner in the Photography Business Category, in the 2020 Wollondilly Local Business Awards. Jodi shared these words with us below; The awards night was last night and I am extremely honoured to say that JGW Photography was the winner in the photography businesses category. I w...as up against five other photography businesses that were finalists and who were also pursuing their business full time. This is a significant achievement to me as I was the youngest business owner at the awards night, let alone in the photography category. Completing the HSC and running a business was difficult, but I’m glad to say, I was able to dedicate time to both while also maintaining a social life. St Greg’s has brought the most out of me. The dedication, hard work, motivation and the thriving attitude. That’s all because of the influence that you and the staff have on students. Thank you once again to you and the staff. I’m extremely grateful for what the College has done for me. Congratulations Jodi and we look forward to seeing you back at the College, camera in hand!

24.01.2022 Last Friday, the Year 12 2020 Graduation Mass and Dinner was held here at the College. We are so proud as a College community, that we were able to provide a wonderful evening for the students and their families, after what has been a very quiet year, events wise, without families onsite. To our graduating Class of 2020, thank you for your years of contribution and example to St Gregory's College. We all wish you every success in the future, wherever it may take you. #class2...020 #stgregorysoldboys All photos are credited to AJ Moran Photography, Bowral

22.01.2022 A big congratulations to Dominic Curtin (Year 10) who last weekend came away from the NSW Canoe Slalom State Championships with two Gold medals, finishing 1st in the U16 Mens K1 event and 1st in the U16 Men's C1 event. As a result of this, he was the fastest Junior (U18) in both events, which is quite an achievement for a 15 year old! Dominic continues to train hard despite uncertainty around his race schedule for the Nationals in January. He is now recording times that put him in contention for selection into the Junior National Team at the selections, which are scheduled for March 2021! The College community wish you the best of luck Dominic!

22.01.2022 This morning, Year 7 spent some time developing concentration and focus through the practice of Guided Meditation in The Marian Centre. The boys were encouraged to access their Smiling Mind account, to reconnect with these themes to help them navigate difficult times throughout the year.

22.01.2022 The latest issue of St Gregory's College Newsletter is now live! To our College community, have a wonderful weekend.

21.01.2022 Today we say farewell and good luck to the fine young gentleman of the Class of 2020! This year has been a year of challenges, but your years at St Greg's will be wonderful memories. The College Community wishes you well and we hope to see you back at the College soon as an Old Boy!

21.01.2022 Due to poor weather on Wednesday, the College had to postpone our R U OK? Day pièce de resistance to this morning, and it worked perfectly! The entire Senior school spelt out R U OK? on MCS1!! The Years 7-12 students are to be congratulated, as we had very limited time to gather as a College community to have this photo taken all the while practising social distancing guidelines! The end result certainly is a conversation starter and the students enjoyed being a part of i...t all. Thank you to our Maintenance Staff, Senior School teachers, the drone operators and of course our Senior school students! There is more to say after R U OK? @ruokday @austboarding @st_gregs_college_campbelltown #maristschools #ruokday2020

19.01.2022 Oliver Keenan, Year 7, designed and built this cross as part of a Catholic Studies assessment task. Oliver has kindly donated the cross to the College and it is hung above the Year 7 noticeboard in the Top Quadrangle. As we look at the cross, we think about ourselves and how we live out our faith. Our outstretched bodies are shaped like a cross. Our feet help us remain planted in the earth where Jesus lived and taught us. Our heads, stretching upward, open us to God. Stretching across to each other, graced with the Holy Spirit, we reach out in love to one another. Thank you Oliver for this beautiful symbol as a reminder to all of us. #missionmonday #maristschoolsaustralia #Class2025 #australianboardingschoolsaustralia

18.01.2022 Last Friday, we welcomed the Year 7 2021 cohort for their official Orientation Day here at the Senior School. We had some familiar faces amongst the group (our current Year 6 boys) and many, many new ones. The boys had a full program for the day; visiting the farm, meeting current teachers, spending time in the Science labs and music rooms and embracing the opportunity to forge new friendships. We cannot wait to welcome them here permanently in 2021!

15.01.2022 The 2021 Musical will be hosted by St Patrick's College and the CAPA Team in conjunction with St Gregory's College. After the challenges of 2020, we've decided to take a time machine back to the joy and innocence of 1980. The world needs some silly, escapist fun and we're going to deliver. Featuring a large ensemble cast, skate with us into the bonkers hilarity of Xanadu! Auditions will be held early next year. It's time for students to practice their roller skating!

15.01.2022 JUNIOR SCHOOL \\ Year 1 have been investigating different animals as an introduction to our new inquiry unit, Sharing the Planet, about living things. Using a magnifying glass, the students had to write what they thought the animals were, what features it has, where they would find it and any questions they had.

Many of the students left Tuesday saying it was the best day of their lives!!!

10.01.2022 The daffodil is recognised internationally as the symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer. Cancer Council chose it as their emblem as the bright yellow colouring heralds the return of spring, representing new life and growth. Today the Junior School supported this wonderful cause by wearing something yellow and taking donations. Don't they all make a lovely 'bunch of daffodils"!

09.01.2022 WHITE RIBBON DAY - 20 November 2020 White Ribbon Day is our opportunity to bring people together in person or online - to raise awareness and commit to action to prevent men’s violence against women. In workplaces, schools and communities all over Australia, we’re asking you to stand up, speak out and act to end gendered violence. It's time to put the elimination of violence against women firmly on the agenda in our community by organising a White Ribbon event - a march, m...eal, webinar, meeting or more - and invite people to join you in ongoing action. This week, students in Year 11 ran workshops with our younger students in Years 7-10. The initiative allowed open and transparent discussions about violence against women and how men need to change attitudes and behaviours to prevent violence. Thank you Mrs Sawyer and her team for taking the White Ribbon Day theme and giving students across the Senior School a very strong message about developing respectful relationships with women. 03.01.2022 A person of strong mind and gentle heart. That is the foundation criteria for the Community Champagnat Award and an apt description of the recipient for 2020. Congratulations to Mr Tom Greally. As a man of strong mind, Tom is knowledgeable about many things and can apply that knowledge to a range of situations. His knowledge extends from academic learning to knowing the people around him, their interests, their stories and their challenges. A strong-minded person makes decis...ions based on what they know to be true and Tom holds firm to his truth. As a man of gentle heart, Tom responds to the world with love and compassion. He is generous with his time, never walking past an office or a desk without stopping. He demonstrates genuine care in his response to these conversations. Tom is prepared to make the trek to Campbelltown even on days when he is not working if he thinks he can help out, be of service, or participate in a professional learning opportunity. He is generous in spirit, kind and gentle, honest and encouraging. Tom is an excellent listener and able to respond wisely to whatever he hears. Tom is a man of faith with no pretence. Tom, you live the Gospel and in the family that Marcellin dreamed of, you are a worthy and valued member. Congratulations on this award. #missionmonday #champagnataward #marist

03.01.2022 Year 7 Mandatory Technology students proudly displaying some of the many trays of seedlings that are donated to the College every semester by Leppington Speedy Seedlings, who are current parents here at the College. Their very generous (and regular) donation ensures our Junior School and Senior Agriculture classes have the essentials for their learning outcomes. I am sure there are many parents who have also enjoyed the final product! Thank you!

02.01.2022 Today, the Year 9 cohort were lucky enough to be visited (via Microsoft teams) from Steve Solomon. Steven was an Olympic Finalist for the 400m event at the 2012 London Olympics, his fastest time in the event being an incredible 44.97 seconds. Olympians have inspiring stories that go beyond sport. An Olympic journey is never a straight line having athletes sharing their stories, including the challenges and how they overcame them, is a vital lesson that can help young people... no matter what their passion. The session aimed to inspire and motivate students to be their personal best; whether thats in the classroom, the playground, the sporting field or at home. Presented in an interactive and engaging way, Steven shared how our boys can set goals, overcome challenges and demonstrate resilience throughout their personal journey. We at St Gregorys College would like to thank Steven Solomon and the Olympics Unleashed Athlete Team program for taking the time to talk to the boys and hope his story can inspire the boys to set high goals in all facets of life. #OlympicsUnleashed #Class2023 #stgregoryscollegecampbelltown
