25.01.2022 Island Bridge safety upgrade --------------------------- Now fully update on the website. We waited 2 1/2 months for Council's response, then more waiting time, and now a crazy rush, with more to come. Also... find out about our Unhappy Bridge on the website - it appears to be dictating Council's upgrade plans. https://sthubertsisland.nsw.au

23.01.2022 All, Sonia's response to me requesting more slots for Community consultation. Not good enough Council - please all bombard her with emails! "Unfortunately, the sessions have all been booked out with Council providing additional timeslots to allow for as many residents and community members to attend as possible on Thursday. To keep staff and community members safe, Council is holding this community drop-in session in accordance with NSW Government’s COVID requirements for su...ch an event. Any community members and residents who were unable to attend and wish to discuss this project with Council Officers may email myself at [email protected] and I will liaise with the Project staff in this regard. 22.01.2022 Hmm... THE BRIDGE... this really is paying lip-service to the Community Consultation process (again) ------------------------------------- The 23 October letterbox drop and email to Consultation responders indicated a pre-booked drop in session in SIX DAYS TIME! Don't bother... there are only 14 x 15 minute sessions available to "talk" to Council officers, and they were "Sold Out" ages ago. So Council will at least find out what 14 people think of the Bridge project!

21.01.2022 Disappointing theft ------------------ It looks like the huge numbers of Islanders walking the streets for exercise have resulted in an impact on other Islanders exercising. One recent case is a kayaking Island exerciser - they left their kayak wheels at Beachfront while paddling, only to find them stolen on their return. Contact SHIRA if you have information (or a solution --> ie a return of said wheels).

15.01.2022 September "The Island News" ---------------------------- For those of you eagerly awaiting the arrival of the September newsletter - it has been delayed a few times now while SHIRA waits for the final decision and reasons for the Bridge railing upgrade so it can be included. It should be (!?) by the end of September.

09.01.2022 OUR BRIDGE Safety Upgrade ----------------------------- SHIRA needs more comments/thoughts sent to Council. There are over 500 residences on our Island - you ALL need to reply to Council (in your own way). To date we know of just over 50 replies.... We hope the other 450 residences have also replied as 52 is NOT ENOUGH! If you haven't told Council your thoughts on the "Upgrade" then get writing. You have until 8 May. It is REALLY important they know your thoughts. Give it too them either-way/any-way, yes/no, good/bad! What comes out of this Upgrade could/will be significant, "life changing" and permanent.
