25.01.2022 Let’s put the dark days behind us for winter was hard to bear. Now the sun is shining brightly, we know spring is in the air.... For life it awakes in springtime season of promise and joy. Now the sun shines and spring showers fall all of it we’ll enjoy. Yes warmth in the sun renews us our spirits are lifted high. Now there’s a fresh, spring in our step and the days are flying by. Blossoms are out see their beauty flowers with perfume to share God, all your glory enchants us, nothing we make can compare. Many the gifts we’ve been given Father of love and of grace gladly we thank you our Saviour, for loving your human race. Poem by Margaret Rossi. 1-10-20

25.01.2022 Have you ever found yourself deep in guilt and shame over a sin you have committed? Perhaps your internal sense of condemnation screams you, Shame on you! You shouldn’t be at church! Clean up your act before you approach God! In part, our feeling of shame is the right response of our conscience to sin. Just like how pain alerts us to bodily harm, our conscience is God’s good gift that helps us recognise and recoil from sin. But Satan can also weave a lie into our shame by telling us we must clean up our act before we can approach God. [Click below to read the full article.]

17.01.2022 In Matthew 18:15-17 Jesus teaches Christians what to do when a fellow believer has wronged them. But what if you’ve been wronged by someone with a different value system who doesn’t think they have sinned? What if they can’t understand the depth of hurt they have caused you? What if they cut you off from contacting them to seek reconciliation? Christians are still called to forgive in a one-sided manner when reconciliation is not possible. The most striking example of this is Jesus’ words from the cross, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. (Luke 23:34) [Click below to read the whole article.]

15.01.2022 The Spirit of God is active in Ethiopia. Furthermore, Ethiopia's new government is enacting major reforms that will benefit not only the state, but the whole region. However, resistance is mounting (Ephesians 6:12). Disgruntled internal and external forces are at work to unleash mayhem, bring down the government and fragment the state. This would be catastrophic for Ethiopia, but especially for Ethiopian Christians. State collapse would trigger massive ethnic-religious cleans...ing while a security vacuum would open the door for criminals and militant Islamists. Today, the government is fighting oppositional forces in Tigray State; massacres of ethnic minorities are increasing, and al-Shabaab and Islamic State terrorists have been arrested in Addis Ababa. The risk of state collapse and the crisis this would create for Ethiopian Christians cannot be overstated. Please pray. 14.01.2022 It has been a little over six months since we have not been able to meet physically in our church buildings. The main result of this is that we have had very little face-to-face interaction over that time with our church community. Human interaction is important because God has created us as relational human beings. However, this leads me to wonder: what is core to our gathering together as God’s people for church which we are now doing online? To start with, the core activities of church include prayer, Bible reading, the exposition and preaching of God’s word and communion. These are happening through our online service for which we are thankful. All of these core activities are designed to strengthen our personal relationship with God. 13.01.2022 Most of us think of characters in the Bible as either sinners or saints, good or bad. At least that’s how Bible stories are presented to children. In this video, we’ll explore the ways biblical authors present characters as more complex and morally compromised than we usually imagine.

13.01.2022 The Old Testament is a very big book, so let’s look at some strategies and resources that might help us read the Old Testament without getting stuck or giving up halfway. [Click below to read the article.]

09.01.2022 I wrote this poem subsequent rereading J. R. R. Tolkien's, The Lord of the Rings after a break of twenty-two years: The fire clouds rage in the darkened sky, The mystery man spoke of days gone-bye, A hundred angels danced on the head of a pin,... And the choir-boys sang of peace within. The multitude awaited the coming of the King, The elephant danced and the bells did ring, A book was burned at the standing stones, And the trolls gnawed on a bag of old bones. The wild sea crashed on the wind-swept shore. The priest chanted verses of ancient lore, A dozen demons fought to avert their doom, And the maidens wove thread on a silver loom. 09.01.2022 As you read stories of persecution you will find God sharpening your understanding of the true Gospel and what is really at stake in spiritual warfare. Let me encourage you to read this article and pray through the suggested points.

02.01.2022 1 Corinthians 14:26 "Everything must be done so that the church may be built up." The preaching of the Word of God, reading of the Word of God, the praying of prayers, the words of administration over communion, the partaking in communion and the singing including the words are to be aimed at building up the faith of every church member that attends a church service whether it be online or in person. In 1 Corinthians 14, every time a spiritual gift is mentioned, it is followed by the phrase or words to this effect, so that the church may be built up. [Click below to read the full article.]
