15.01.2022 Indigenous Literacy Day Today is Indigenous Literacy Day! Indigenous Literacy Day was established by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation with a focus on engaging schools around the nation. In particular, it is a day to celebrate remote Australian children and learn about how First Nations languages and cultural traditions are being used to support literacy development for little kids in far flung places. At 2pm today, the Sydney Opera House education department will be hosting... a virtual excursion- free of charge- to mark the day. It runs for an hour, and will include videos/music/conversations with some great children's authors and illustrators and with kids and community members. *St John's is donating $1 per child towards the foundation. 14.01.2022 Student Leadership is very important to us at St John's. Our Year 5 leadership day explores leaders and we begin to develop a plan for the following year. We develop Leadership roles and children write a letter of interest, if interested. Roles such as School Leaders, Sports Leaders, Sustainability Leaders, Media Leaders ect are refined and defined to ensure we all understand the responsibilities and commitment each role has. It was a beautiful day of team challenges, reflection, deep thinking and planning.

Shes empowered and affirmed our dreams to believe the impossible and challenge the status quo..... She gets all things done without an iota of a stress !! She smiles and laughs and knows every kids passion in the school. She is flying the coop once more to have another wohoooo BUT.... we get to welcome her son and then welcome Bess back !!! So all in all - we are winners

She makes us all laugh everyday in the staffroom and she sprouts the importance of family engagement, family knowledge and community links every chance she gets..
