25.01.2022 There is a sound I love to hear It's the sound of the Savior's robe As He walks into the room where people pray Where we hear worship He hears faith... Awake my soul and sing Sing His praise aloud Sing His praise aloud There is a sound that changes things The sound of His people on their knees Oh wake up you slumbering It's time to worship Him And when He moves And when we pray Where stood a wall now stands a way Where every promise is amen And when He moves Make no mistake The bowels of hell begin to shake All hail the Lord all hail the King

21.01.2022 Uncle Ray will be preaching at St John's on Sunday 9 August. We want to learn from this wise man. He has suggested we listen to this short video, and think about some of the steps we need to take individually and as a church to be reconciled and become better friends. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=977799432645204
20.01.2022 Look who's on 'The Panel of Wisdom' tonight! Q+A is live on Monday, August 31 at 9.35pm AEST. This week we draw on the collective wisdom of some highly respected Australians. How do their life experiences shape what they take away from this COVID-19 crisis? Where do they think our focus should be right now? How do they imagine our future? How should we tackle the big issues facing the country at this time?

09.01.2022 9-10 Love from the center of who you are; dont fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle. 11-13 Dont burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Dont quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality. 14-16 Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath. Laugh with your happy friends w...hen theyre happy; share tears when theyre down. Get along with each other; dont be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; dont be the great somebody. 17-19 Dont hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If youve got it in you, get along with everybody. Dont insist on getting even; thats not for you to do. Ill do the judging, says God. Ill take care of it. 20-21 Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if hes thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Dont let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good. Romans 12 - MSG

08.01.2022 Today is Mabo Day. Eddie Mabo of Mer island in the Torres Strait spent a decade seeking official recognition of his peoples ownership of Mer and on 3 June 1992, the High Court of Australia agreed, rejecting the doctrine that Australia was terra nullius (land belonging to no-one) at the time of European settlement. Eddies daughter, Gail Mabo remembers that day well.... I was sitting in a car breastfeeding my six month old son, who was born the day before I buried my dad, when I heard on the radio we had won the case, Gail said. I started crying and thinking that if my father was alive he would be dancing. I then heard the sound of thunder and said to my son hear that, he is dancing.

02.01.2022 Lets just acknowledge that prayer can be a lot like stacking dominoes. We pray the same thing weve prayed one hundred times before until suddenly the whole lot comes down. The breakthrough occurs. The miracle happens. Its not that we finally found the right formula. Its simply that we didnt give up praying one prayer too soon.* *Pete Greig, How to Pray (Hodder & Stoughton) p23
01.01.2022 Today is Maundy Thursday. We usually meet under the Scarred Tree, and remember some of the things Jesus did on the night before Good Friday. This year, you might like to go over some of the events of that night by reading John13:1-17 when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, or Jesus heartfelt prayer in the garden of Gethsemane in Mark 14:32-42 and the long prayer Jesus prayed in John 17. There you will see what he prayed for you before he died.
