24.01.2022 Welcome to the 2021 School Year and Covid Restrictions Dear Parents, We are very excited to welcome our amazing students back to school this week. Year 6 and Kinder on Thursday. All other grades on Friday. We have the following advice from the office in Bathurst in regards to the return to school and Covid.... For Term 1, the Government is reverting back to some of the restrictions that were in place in 2020. All restrictions that were in place previously in Term 4 2020 remain, with some modifications. These include: Parents and carers can enter the school to: purchase or pick up uniforms from the uniform shop meet with school staff with an appointment drop off students for Kindergarten and Years 1, within the school grounds only after sanitising hands and staying only for a quick drop off. attend parent orientation meetings and ‘meet the teacher’ meetings with school staff for all year/stage groups. Meetings should be limited to 1 hour where possible. A COVID-19 Safety Plan must be in place. attending P&F meetings after school hours with a Covid-19 safety plan in place Non essential adults are not permitted on school grounds or at school events. Additional advice Continue to minimise mixing of different cohorts Students and staff are not required to wear a face mask while at school. Families and staff should adhere to the NSW Health advice regarding masks. While masks are currently mandatory on public transport and in most indoor settings in Greater Sydney, metropolitan Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong, they are not mandatory for parents and carers visiting schools, provided they maintain physical distancing and hygiene practices while on site. Water fountains and bubblers in schools can now be turned on. However, students are still encouraged to bring water bottles that they can refill throughout the day. Please ensure that COVID-19 posters are placed in high traffic areas around the school. New Students To support settling of young students into a new school environment at the start of the year, parents in early learning, K-2 years and Year 7 orientation can walk children to class and pick students up from class, providing physical distancing is maintained I am sure that together we are going to have a wonderful and successful 2021. Best wishes Anthony 26.01.2021

22.01.2022 A message at Christmas from Bishop Michael McKenna Dear Friends in Christ, When I wrote last year’s Christmas message, we were still in a time of drought, waiti...ng for rain. Since then, thank God, the rains have come and we rejoice in the growth that we see around us. Full recovery from the losses that our farmers and communities suffered will take longer and we must continue to look out for one another, but we are on our way. Now, we are in a time of pandemic, waiting for a stubborn virus to go away. In Australia and here in our own Diocese, we have not been as badly hit as other regions and other countries. But we have all been affected here, some of us greatly. Again, it has evoked a good spirit of caring for one another, which we hope will continue. Christmas celebrations this year will not be quite the same, particularly in our churches, where restrictions still apply. It will be a demanding time, especially for our priests, who will be offering extra Masses to ensure that as many people as possible can celebrate the birth of the Christ child worthily. It is a good time to give thanks for our priests, who have quietly and steadfastly shown their pastoral hearts throughout this difficult year. May the knowledge that the Son of God has entered our troubled world, to conduct us to the new creation, fill your hearts and minds with the faith, hope and love he wants to share with you here and now. +Michael McKenna Bishop of Bathurst Hold Me Close The illustration accompanying the Bishop's Christmas message is the work of Alayna Haque, a Year 6 student at St John’s Primary School, Dubbo. Alayna received the Bishop’s Award in the Diocese of Bathurst’s annual Christmas Story and Art Competition.

21.01.2022 Today, SJP celebrated Remembrance Day together. While we did not have the luxury of an air-conditioned hall or a screen to read from, we still managed to create a very prayerful and reflective space which enabled us to remember all the members of the armed forces who have served our beautiful country. Thankyou to our School Captains Vaylia and George who finally got the opportunity to lay a wreath (after missing out on ANZAC Day), Brodie who provided a moving rendition of "The Last Post", our Christian Ministry students who helped throughout the Liturgy, and finally all of our students who brought so much respect and pride to mark this occasion.

21.01.2022 1 Blue had a fantastic day being ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ and making toys incorporating the science of Simple Machines with Mrs Jones for STEAM today. So much hands on learning and lots of fun!

20.01.2022 Today St. John's Primary excelled by giving generously once again to our Socktober Fundraiser, "Dollars for Dara". Not only did our students learn about the lives of children who live in less fortunate areas of our world, they engaged in creating and making 'sockballs' for their soccer games, AND raised an impressive $632! Well done SJP. Another fabulous fundraising effort!

16.01.2022 CHANGE TO MASS SCHEDULE Please note the 5.30pm & 7.30pm Masses that were to be held at St Mary's school grounds have been cancelled. St Laurence's 9am Mass will now be celebrated in the church.

13.01.2022 Is your Year 1-4 child interested in learning an instrument at school next year with the teachers from the Macquarie Conservatorium? You may have received a note home today (or over the next week), from a very enthusiastic child who was inspired by the bright and cheerful tunes we heard today at our Demo Concert. Please check out our school newsletter next week OR the Macquarie Conservatorium website: www.macqcon.org.au for more details on how to inquire about and enrol in lessons for 2021.

02.01.2022 Dear Parents, We are currently experiencing some problems with the My Kids Lunchbox online ordering system. I ask that starting Monday, 1st of Feb, that you go back to ordering via the canteen / paper bag lunch order method that we used to use. We will be in touch with you when an online ordering system option is available. Sorry for the inconvenience... Best wishes Anthony See more
