25.01.2022 100 DAYS OF PREP Preps had an exciting time today celebrating 100 Days of School. We started the morning with breakfast at school....yummy pancakes, fruit toast, fresh fruit, milo and juice. We even had the principal, Mrs O'Loughlin join us for some breakfast. Preps spent the day exploring the number 100 , playing maths games and making a very special headband and necklace. Congratulations Prep on a wonderful start to your school year. Let's hope that the next 100 days are as much fun!

23.01.2022 Remote learning can be fun!! Preps have been exploring other cultures, and have been learning a lot about India. Mrs Browne, Miss Pouw and the 3 Preps on site enjoyed cooking and eating some Indian food, while the Preps at home were asked to also cook with their families.

22.01.2022 What a challenging, difficult and emotional time it has been this past term. We were all put in a position we so desperately did not want to be in....back to remote learning, back to not seeing our loved ones and back to missing out on important events in our lives. The staff at St Laurence's wish to thank all our families for hanging in there and getting the job done again, under such overwhelming circumstances. We wish to thank our dedicated staff for their continued e...nthusiasm and dedication. Wishing you all a very happy, safe holiday break. We can't wait to see you all back at St Laurence's next term. 21.01.2022 National Walk Safely to School Day is today! While the event can't go ahead in Victoria due to Stage Three and Four restrictions, the event's objectives are a timely reminder to all children and adults that walking regularly significantly improves physical and mental health and general well-being. Its vital children remain physically active - every day - and walking regularly is the best exercise. ... Try walking around the block, in the park, up and down the stairs, to the shops and with your dog (if you have one). But remember, until they are ten, children must ALWAYS hold an adult's hand when crossing the road. https://facebook.com/events/s/national-walk-safely-to-school/286486872409533/?ti=as

20.01.2022 ~ GO GIRLS CYBER EDITION ~ On Tuesday October, 13th a group of Grade 5/6 girls were privileged to be able to take part in Go Girl’s Cyber event. Run each year by Deakin University, COVID restrictions provided our girls with a unique opportunity to participate in this inspiring event. The event began with cyber safety, but also a brilliant suggestion for setting yourself up to create a positive digital footprint to assist the girls in their future study and career pursuits. T...he girls were then sent to virtual google meets with their assigned speaker - we had 3 groups in total each hooked into a different guest speaker. The girls were exposed to the expertise of a variety of women who are top in their fields. Guest speakers included women who work on the international space station, work for google, criminal investigation and other fields. The girls had opportunities to ask questions of their speaker. Although many were unsure what to expect and were not even sure they would like it, we are so proud of the girls for grabbing this opportunity with both hands. To be honest I was expecting something a little more boring and not as interactive . I was thinking it would be boring I wasn’t expecting for it to be as interactive as it was and to be honest I was sort of expecting it to be boring!! But it definitely wasn’t!! Afterwards the feedback from the girls was exceptionally positive, with many not realising how intertwined cyber skills are to almost all career choices. ‘That lots of jobs are to do with IT not just jobs that are mainly IT. That you don’t have to be great at math to get a job in tech ! We are grateful to Deakin University for proving this wonderful event and hope that now it has worked remotely our girls might have this opportunity again. Special thanks to Mrs Piasente for her assistance on the day and to Miss Arthur for her tech support for this event. ~
