25.01.2022 Time has been spent to prepare the beds for spring planting. Seed potatoes have been chitting for round three weeks. We have waited for the soil to warm a little bit more before planting the potatoes. They will be done next weekend.
22.01.2022 It has been a while since the last photos. The summer crops were impacted by the fruit fly and the extremely hot weather. Now that it has cooled down we are looking forward to a bumper winter crop. The brassicas may fail because the white butterfly is hanging around.
22.01.2022 It's been a bit over a year since the last photos were added. A complete season has gone by and now the summer crops are giving up their fruit. In the past month, early to mid November, there was some wild weather that smashed some of the plants but now they have recovered

14.01.2022 Two years have passed since the last photos. The pot garden (broccoli boxes) have been successful for some veggies but not all. The area that was destined to be a pot garden has been developed with retaining walls and bricks. As well as veggie, a shade garden has also been established. This has made the area of little usefulness into something that will be a delight in the future. The plan is to put more boxes in to make use of the available sunlight that falls in this area. ...A water tank and outside sink has made doing some of the dirty work and propagation a bit easier. The compost bins were replaced with second hand fence palings when the boundary fence was changed to a metal one. This has since been replaced by a more substantial on that has three bays measuring 1 metre wide by 1.2 metres deep and 0.9 metres high. This makes a hot composting system and coffee grounds from a local coffee shop are used as greens. A big mulcher was purchased from a donation and much of the tree residues are mulched and used to make the compost. It will take 2 - 3 months for the compost to be ready, then is used extensively in the garden beds.
14.01.2022 The warm (hot) weather has arrived and the plants are stressing. Harvesting hasn't resulted in the quantity of crops as we expected but has been good.
11.01.2022 Spring planting has commenced
06.01.2022 It's been a while since some photos were added. Admin has been travelling around Australia for quite a few months and has recently got back. The gardens have been well looked after by Rosemary, Ray, John and Moyra.
05.01.2022 These photos have been resting in the computer for quite some time.
02.01.2022 Weather has been warm and getting close to summer. The plants are growing quickly and we are expecting some bumper crops.
01.01.2022 Earlier on in the year the community garden team decided that it would take on the landscaping at the front of the church where a new extension was being built. The drought was having and effect on the veggie patch and putting some effort into the front of the church could save the church a bit of money. Some plants were propagated by the team and the rest bought from a close by nursery.
