24.01.2022 This weekend is the Holy Lands Collection.

23.01.2022 Today at 7pm you are invited to light a candle in the darkness as a symbol of hope. Members of the Catholic Eccumencial Councils, Faith Communities of Victoria and Victorian Council of Churches are encouraging people as the last light of the last day of winter fades, stand in your front garden and spend some time in silence, perhaps light a candle, to remember all those who have lost their lives to the Coronavirus or to violence. Then, as the first night of spring begins, look to the future with prayer and hope. Let us move from the cold and the dark into warmth and light together. https://facebook.com/events/s/light-in-the-darkness-time-out/751594142338300/?ti=icl

21.01.2022 Despite COVID restrictions, SFX and Caritas are finding new opportunities to connect. Fantastic to see the compassion on display after what has been a difficult year. #youthfriyay

18.01.2022 Today was Fr Jeff’s birthday. He likes to keep this day low key but we want to acknowledge him and all the wonderful work he does for our parish. We are lucky to have him as our shepherd. We hope he spent the day out in nature, his favourite place to be, and that he found some time to just breathe.

16.01.2022 Here is the second way in which #SocialJusticeStatement 2020 To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia today suggests that we can reject the stigmatisation of mental ill-health.

15.01.2022 This is the fourth way in which #SocialJusticeStatement 2020 To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia today suggests that we can reject the stigmatisation of mental ill-health.

14.01.2022 Our society tends to push away or draw away from those who confront us with our frailties and limitations. This is not the way of Jesus. Let us follow him in drawing near to those who are experiencing mental ill health and acknowledge that they are members of the Body of Christ - they are part of us!

14.01.2022 Every year on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we pause to remember.

12.01.2022 R U OK? Now more than ever we need to check up on each other. But dont stop at Are You Okay? Sometimes its the extra questions thats see people open up and we find out they are not ok. Its good to admit we are struggling and share how we feel, you usually discover you are not alone

12.01.2022 This weekend, the Catholic Church in Australia marks Child Protection Sunday, on which we pray for those who have been abused, their families and supporters. We... recognise and apologise for the harm done by priests, religious and lay people in Church settings. The Church takes a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. We recommit to practices that support survivors and make the Catholic Church and its ministries the safest possible place for children and people at risk. Find out more at: www.catholic.org.au/childprotectionsunday and www.catholicreligious.org.au/safeguarding

12.01.2022 In todays Gospel reading, Jesus calls us out for being critical of others without first reflecting on ourselves and our own behaviour. Its not easy but we can better serve those around us by working to become more understanding, more generous and more contemplative. #youthfriyay "Why do you see the speck in your neighbors eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, Friend, let me take out the speck in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbors eye." -Luke 6:41-42

10.01.2022 The Victorian Council of Churches is hosting an ecumenical virtual prayer on the last two days of winter (Sunday and Monday 30-31 August) to pray together. 10.01.2022 Next Sunday is Social Justice Sunday. The theme this year is "TO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULL" and focuses on mental health in Australia today. Lets find ways to reject the stigmatisation of mental health. You can read the Social Justice Statement by following the link below.

10.01.2022 This weekend is the Holy Lands Collection for the support of the church in the Holy Land. It was postponed from Good Friday - due to the COVID-19 Pandemic - to Sunday September 13 to coincide with the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross on September14. This collection promotes the missionary work of the Church in the Holy Land by providing welfare assistance to local Christians in areas such as health, education, employment and housing. Watch this to learn some more about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o62bhQoaCTw&feature=youtu.be

07.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the mental health of many members of our parishes, schools and communities. Understanding mental health will help us to be aware of those who need our support. #socialjusticestatement This is a message from the Chair of the Bishops Commission for Social Justice, Bishop Vincent Long.

07.01.2022 His feast day is not until Monday but we thought it was too good an opportunity to share about Bl. Frederic Ozanam this #youthfriyay In Paris in 1833, the 19 year old Ozanam was moved by the plight of the poor to put his faith into action and he founded the Society of St Vincent de Paul. He is an inspiration to Vinnies volunteers everywhere (including our own Young Vinnies) and was a pioneer of Catholic Social Teaching. Ozanam burned with youthful passion and a heart full of love that drove him to serve those in need. May we take up the call serve others too. Bl. Frederiz Ozanam, pray for us.

06.01.2022 Theres a lot to think about in the world at the moment so lets keep it simple. Be kind. Bring love. #Catholic #stmichaelsyouth

03.01.2022 This is the first week for Seasons of Creation that runs until October 4. Perhaps you would like to take time once a week to engage in the Ecological Examen. Take the time to reflect and heed Pope Francis call in Laudato Si to care for creation and to reconcile our relationship with God. Follow this link to the Ignatian and start today. http://www.ecologicalexamen.org/

02.01.2022 The Catholic Church and Christians around the world mark today as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation and celebrate the Season of Creation through to Oct. 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. https://bit.ly/3hQ4Nkk

02.01.2022 We echo the prayer of the young member of the parish who created the image inspired by last weekends Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. If there are any other creative people, young or old, wanting to share their inspirations please email [email protected]

01.01.2022 On this first day of Seasons of Creation lets remember the Holy Spirit is foundational to who we are as a community. It inspires and informs our work to act for justice and build inclusive communities. The Spirits dynamic presence embodies our quest for transformation. This is where the Spirit has called us and continues to do so. As we work for renewal, were inspired by a powerful prayer by Diarmuid OMurchu:

01.01.2022 We wish all fathers and father figures in our parish community, and beyond, every blessing this Fathers Day and trust it is a happy day for you all.

01.01.2022 Which of these represents how youre feeling heading into the weekend? #TheOffice #youthfriyay #happyfriday
