25.01.2022 In Science, the Year 5s have been learning about forces. Today, they had a great time designing and creating catapults, to put their knowledge into action. Next week, they will put them to the test to see whose catapult can launch a projectile the furthest.

24.01.2022 As part of our Wellbeing week, our Year 6 leaders encouraged our students to dress up as a St Monica's staff member. Not only was it about embracing fun, but we were also raising money for Father Thomas' charity - Mission for Mercy and Hope.

As a final wrap up for the year, we wish you all a happy and holy Christmas period and we look forward to seeing you in the new year. We wish all our departing families, including our Year 6’s, the very best for the future. Thanks for being a part of our school community. ... Last Friday, we said our final farewells to staff who are leaving us. As a quick recap, we say thank you and all the best to Mrs Ruge (LST at Mary MacKillop Highfields in 2021), Ms Brady (Education Support Services in Toowoomba), Mrs Burgess (Teacher Librarian roles at Clifton, Pittsworth and Millmerran), Mrs Lawrie (Maternity), Ms McAleer (Education Officer role in Lismore Diocese, Catholic Education) and Mrs Cavanagh (Education Officer: Formation and Identity, Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office). We thank all of these wonderful staff members for their commitment and dedication to our fantastic school over the years. The recruitment process has commenced for Mrs Cavanagh’s replacement in the APRE/ML space. The office is officially closed from today (11/12/20) and will reopen on 18th January. If you need to get in contact with the school, our office email [email protected] will still be operating and will be checked throughout the break. 22.01.2022 Swimming Carnival. Info for families. Swimming Carnival Tuesday 24th November. As per previous communications, we are unable to have parents attend this event. We will be posting regular updates to our school Facebook page. Students encouraged to wear their House shirts on the day however, they will need to wear their swimming gear to school and will be able to change back into their sports uniform / house shirts at school. We are unable to use the change facili...ties at the pool. Our Prep to Year 2 students will be bused down to the pool in preparation for their races. Year 3 to 6 will be walking to and from the carnival. Please note that students need to arrive to school at the usual time, they are not to go directly to the pool. Please note that there will be no canteen facilities or BBQ operating, so students will need to pack their usual morning tea and lunch for the day as well as having their water bottle with them. Students will also need plenty of sunscreen, their hat and a towel.

19.01.2022 The Week Ahead: 7 - 11 Sept. This week we are having our Term 3 Wellbeing week. Throughout the week, we encourage families to reconnect and enjoy some time together in the afternoons. We will be shaping our week around the 5 ways to wellbeing Connect, Take Notice, Be Active, Keep Learning and Give. Each day students will participate in some whole school and class activities. Have a go as a family in shaping your week around these as well. On Friday we will be having our School Athletics carnival. Please be on the look out for some final details in relation to spectator attendance & protocols for the day. They will be made available no later than Tuesday.

15.01.2022 To tie in with Child Protection Week and R U OK? Day, the Year 6 students took part in a walk and talk where they checked in with a classmate to see how they are going. We talked about the fact that there is more to say after R U OK? and discussed some strategies that students could implement to help themselves or a friend when they are not okay including speaking to someone in their safety network.

15.01.2022 The Week Ahead - Week 9: 30 Nov - 4 Dec Thanks again for your attendance at our End of Year Function. It was an excellent night out. We hope you had a great evening. Big thanks to our parents who assisted with the cooking and the bar work. Reminder that our AGM is on tomorrow at 6:30pm. We are looking for new members for 2021. Tickets for the Thermomix raffle close on Tuesday. No more tickets after this time. Winner drawn on Wednesday. We will have many "thank you" opportunities this week but we would like to make a start by thanking our wonderful St Monica's community. Thanks for your support and assistance throughout the year. 14.01.2022 Our final day has almost come to an end but we couldn’t leave without squeezing in some final activities. Today the #1 Burleigh Crew took on raft building while the Burleigh Busters worked in teams during initiative games. After having lunch and saying farewell to our incredible instructors at CYC Burleigh, we have boarded the bus and are on our way home with an estimated time of arrival for 4pm, pending traffic.

06.01.2022 Last week we had the honour of celebrating our Year 6 graduating class of 2020. We wish these students all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

06.01.2022 Day Two of our School Song workshop was another successful day. Josh Arnold worked with the our classes on teaching the chorus and some actions. Josh Waters worked with some of our boys on choreographing an indigenous dance which will feature in the film clip. The final product is coming along well with recording happening over the next two days.

06.01.2022 The 2020 Swimming Carnival! Congratulations to all the students who participated and tried their best. It was a great day!

05.01.2022 The process continues. Yesterday, Josh laid down the backing track with didgeridoo accompaniment from local Oakey man - William Haupt. Our student vocals including soloists added their voices to the project. The afternoon was spent getting some film ready for the video clip. Final project is going to be awesome.
