24.01.2022 Here's something cool for your Monday morning! The St Paul's School Percussion Ensemble is comprised of percussions from our second top wind group - Concert Band - and is directed by Mr David Cotgreave. Here they are playing "Shongaloo Ramble", featuring solo work by Year 8 xylophone player Jadyn Morgan.

23.01.2022 We're really excited to watch tonight's St Paul's School 2020 Celebration of Achievement from the comfort of our own couches tonight from 7pm. While we couldn't hold the event in person, the Celebration of Achievement has been reimagined for the COVID area, and our talented musicians feature heavily in the final cut. In addition to our own Music Tech students who were managing the recordings, a professional film crew came along to our Rona Recording Sessions last term and took some incredible footage of our ensembles. Tune in to watch in just over an hour and celebrate how amazing St Paul's students have been this year (despite a freaking global pandemic), and how strong the community that surrounds them is.

21.01.2022 We're excited to bring you another lovely performance today, this time from Vivo Strings way back in August for our Rona Recording Sessions. The title of this piece feels apt for this time of the year... here they're playing excerpts from the movie 'La La Land'.

21.01.2022 Another day, another St Paul's Music release! Here is St Paul's Singers performing 'No Surprises' by Radiohead for your Friday enjoyment. https://youtu.be/3QD30KnIgOo

18.01.2022 #funkfriday Our musicians have continued to excel this year, despite cancelled concerts and online and socially distanced rehearsals. Even though it certainly has been a weird time to be a performing musician, our Music staff have worked hard to ensure that students still had as many opportunities to share their music with family and friends as possible. In August, all secondary ensembles had an audio and video recording session, facilitated by our Year 11 and 12 Music Tech s...tudents. Over the next few weeks we'll be releasing these videos on our YouTube channel so make sure you subscribe to catch them as they're premiered. The first video is by our second top big band, Stage Band, which is comprised of students from Year 7 to 10 and is directed by Mr Cotgreave. Here they're performing "Use Me" by soul legend Bill Withers, with solos by Ryan Hawcroft on trumpet and Bradley Boag-Hodgson on tenor sax.

16.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY: Thank you to Wind Ensemble, and Year 11 trumpeter Callum Heard, for performing at our Remembrance Day service today. Having musicians who are able to play so beautifully on such important occasions is a real privilege. #lestweforget

13.01.2022 JUNIOR ENSEMBLES CONCERT: We're looking forward to hearing our smallest musicians perform this afternoon in what, because of COVID-19, will be (for most of them) their first performance of the year! For some, like our Year 2 Strings and Year 4 Band students, it will actually be their first performance *ever* so they're very excited to play for you. While we're sad not to be able to have a parent audience you can view the live stream from 3.30-5pm via the link below. If you do tune in, be sure to write a comment so that the students know how much you love their music!

11.01.2022 The music continues with our Rona recording sessions. This time it's Wind Ensemble performing "Jitterbug", conducted by Mr Weal.

08.01.2022 We can't have our annual Celebration of Achievement this year because of The Rona, but that won't stop us celebrating all the amazing things that our students have done this year. Filming has taken place over the last few months around the school featuring a range of activities that students take part in, and we're proud that our Rona recording sessions feature heavily in the final product. Tune in next Friday night for the a COVID safe, couch-friendly version of Celebration of Achievement.

07.01.2022 Not long after this post is published our Year 12 Music Extension students will join the rest of their cohort in finally finishing their exams! Hooray! This is the perfect song to go out on and features one of the students sitting the exam today, Naomi Phillips, performing the iconic Nina Simone tune 'Feeling Good' with the 2020 St Paul's Big Band. Congratulations, Year 12s.

03.01.2022 The year is winding up, but our musicians are still working hard. Year 11 singer/songriter Josh Crawford, one of our Executive Music Captains, has just released his awesome new single, 'Cry'. Check it out via the link below!

02.01.2022 Golly gee, our students are talented! Check out the latest single from Grace Spinks, 2020 Executive Music Captain and singer/songwriter extraordinaire. Listen to ‘Gold’ on Spotify (link below).
