22.01.2022 LK 9:57-62 As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on their journey, someone said to him, I will follow you wherever you go.... Jesus answered him, Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head. And to another he said, Follow me. But he replied, Lord, let me go first and bury my father. But he answered him, Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God. And another said, I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say farewell to my family at home. Jesus answered him, No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God. See more

18.01.2022 Nov. 30 #SaintOfTheDay Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle and Martyr Little is know about him, even the Gospels have just a few lines for him. What we know about him ...is that: -he was a brother of St. Peter -a disciple of St. John the Baptist at first but followed Jesus to his home when he said, "Behold the Lamb of God." -He knew Jesus was the Messiah that instant -he introduced Jesus to his brother - he was a fisherman by profession but "fisher of men" by vocation -he ushered the boy with two loaves of bread and five fishes to Jesus during the great miracle of multiplication of bread -Philip informed him first when Jesus was planned to be taken as prisoner -Of course, he was present during the Last Supper ...and nothing much more were written about him... -he was known to be the founder of the Church in Greece and Georgia -he preached in what we know as Turkey -he was bound not nailed on a X-form cross. Like his brother, Peter who was crucified upside down, he requested to be martyred just like that because he felt unworthy to die like his Lord. May like St. Andrew, I may find courage and strength in times of adversities and persecution to become a real "fisher of men" preaching the Gospel. Amen. St. Andrew, pray for us.

17.01.2022 Please watch this video as it will assist you with the other items that I will share from the page Advent Online. 16.01.2022 MT 18:1-5, 10 The disciples approached Jesus and said, Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven? He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and sai...d, Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me. See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.

09.01.2022 MT 5:1-12A When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying:... Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. See more

05.01.2022 LK 10:17-24 The seventy-two disciples returned rejoicing and said to Jesus, Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name. Jesus said, I have ...observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Behold, I have given you the power ‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven. At that very moment he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him. Turning to the disciples in private he said, Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.

04.01.2022 Some Biblical reading for your interest.

01.01.2022 The Gospel Reading for Monday of the First Week of Advent and the Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle Saint Andrew was a fisherman born in the Galilean village of Beth...saida (Jn 1:44) and the brother of Simon-Peter. He was a disciple of St John the Baptist, and when St. John pointed out Jesus as the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world (Jn 1:29), Andrew and a friend (believed to be John Zebedee) spent the day talking with Jesus. Andrew became convinced that Jesus was the promised Messiah and brought his brother, Simon, to speak with Jesus (Jn 1:40-42). After returning to their fishing business in Capernaum in Galilee, Jesus called Andrew, Simon-Peter, and the Zebedee brothers to follow Him (Mt 4:18-22; Mk 1:16-20; Lk 5:1-11). Later, Jesus selected Andrew and the others out of His seventy disciples as members of the twelve Apostles (Lk 6:12-16). Scripture records that Andrew left everything to follow Jesus and participated in the founding of Jesus’ Kingdom of the Church. It was in the second year of Jesus’ ministry that Jesus asked His Apostles how they could feed a crowd of over 5,000 people who had spent the day listening to Jesus preach. Perhaps anticipating a miracle, St Andrew pointed out a small boy who had two fish and five loaves of bread. Jesus multiplied the boy’s food and fed 5,000 men (not counting women and children). After Jesus’ Ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Andrew preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Asia Minor, Armenia, and Scythia [southern Russia]. He may also have preached in Greece. According to Church history, Andrew died a martyr’s death, crucified on an X-shaped cross in circa AD 60. St. Andrew’s martyrdom is often depicted in icons and paintings on an X-shaped cross or holding a fishing net with a fish. The faithful invoke him against injustice, sterility, gout, and dysentery, and he is the patron saint of fishermen, fishmongers, and paralytics. His name is Greek and means male virility and courage. St. Andrew is honored as the patron saint of Russia. The Gospel Reading for the Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle: Matthew 4:18-22 ~ Jesus Calls His First Disciples 18 Walking by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, Come after me, and I will make fishers of men. 20 And leaving their nets, they immediately followed Him. 21 And going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called to them, 22 and immediately, leaving their boat and their father, they followed Him. The meeting on the shores of the Sea of Galilee was not the first time Jesus encountered these men. Earlier, when Jesus was still in the south after His baptism, all four men met Jesus on the eastern shore of the Jordan River (Jn 1:28). It was the day St. John the Baptist identified Jesus as the Messiahthe Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world and the one who existed before him (Jn 1:29-30). Andrew and another of John the Baptist’s disciples (probably John Zebedee) spent a day talking with Jesus (Jn 1:35-38, 40). The next day Andrew brought his brother Simon (Peter) to meet Jesus, telling Simon that he had found the Messiah (Jn 1:41-42). At that time, Jesus re-named Simon, telling him that he was to be called Kephas, meaning Rock in Aramaic but Petros or Peter in Greek (1 Jn 1:42; repeated later in Mt 16:18). That day in the Galilee, when Jesus called them to become His disciples, the men had the experience of witnessing Jesus’ supernatural powers in their gathering of fish (Lk 5:4-7). It was a demonstration that left little doubt for them about Jesus’ true identity. The fishermen's response to Jesus’ call when they met Him a second time on the shore of the Sea of Galilee was that they left everything in their former lives and followed Jesus on a path that would lead them into eternity. The call of the four fishermen to leave their occupation as fishers of fish to become fishers of men as Jesus promised in verse 19 may be a fulfillment of the words of the prophet Jeremiah: However, the days will surely come, says the LORD [Yahweh], when it will no longer be said, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites out of Egypt’; but rather, ‘as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites out of the land of the north and out of all the countries to which he had banished them.’ I will bring them back to the land, which I gave their fathers. Look, I will send many fishermen, says the LORD [Yahweh], to catch them (Jer 16:14-16a). Are you willing to make the same commitment? Will you follow the Messiah on a journey that will take you through the perils of this life by sharing the Gospel of salvation and advancing the Kingdom of Jesus Christ? This journey promises a destination in union with Christ and in the joyful company of all His disciples who have journeyed before you and now rest in His heavenly Kingdom. 01.01.2022 November 3 honors Richard Hooker, Anglican clergyman and leading theologian of the Elizabethan era. Although Anglicanism did not have a founder, like a Martin ...Luther or John Calvin, Hooker did more than anyone to mold its beliefs. He was three years old when Elizabeth I came to the throne and diedon this day in 1600three years before the queen’s death. Hooker served at various times as a parish priest, master of the Temple Church in London, and subdean of Salisbury Cathedral. His best-known work was the monumental Laws of Ecclesiastical Polity, a collection of eight books published from 1594 onward. Hooker acknowledged the primacy of scripture, but he also recognized reason and tradition as two other sources of authority Thus evolved the three-legged stool of Anglican beliefs. Hooker’s greatest contribution was to promote the notion of a via media, or middle path, between Roman Catholicism and continental (Lutheran and Calvinist) Protestantismboth of which were represented by factions within the nascent Church of England. The via media sought more than just a compromise between the two. Rather it sought to build a synthesis of what is best in Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. And it gave all the various factions a sense of belonging in the church. The via media remains Anglicanism’s distinctive guide to this day. [Source: John F. Nash, The Sacramental Church (2011).
