25.01.2022 This week, St Phil’s are celebrating the amazing support staff that assist and make the everyday running of our school possible. With so many different days of celebration, we decided to celebrate all of our wonderful Teachers Aides, Administration, Grounds and Canteen staff all together, for a whole week! We commence celebrations this week with a morning tea and presentation of some lovely indoor plants that will be a growing reminder of each staff members importance to our students and teachers. Students have also used some special words to describe each staff member on a display wall in our foyer, acknowledging each persons special and unique characteristics and contributions. A huge thank you for the above and beyond job that each of you do, St Phil’s is a special place because of each and everyone of you.

23.01.2022 A big thank you to Bunnings, Bathurst

21.01.2022 | Growth Mindset Thursday | Our Evans House Captains, Harriet and Danika, have focused on the importance of self-talk. They had some great examples of what you can say when you are finding something difficult. You are ready to do this!... It’s worth it! You will get it done It may not be easy but keep going! The only thing that matters is that you try! Thank you girls for the great ideas!

20.01.2022 It was lovely to welcome Mr Hadson to St Phil's this week and a great opportunity for children (and parents in the pick-up line!) to say hello. Mr Hadson and Mrs Davies will work together towards the end of the term to ensure a seamless transition for the 2021 school year.

15.01.2022 We are incredibly proud of our budding Year 5 and 6 artists who took place in this years Christmas Art competition. Good luck to all students and schools represented, the quality of work has been nothing short of amazing.

14.01.2022 This week our Year 5 students delivered their leadership speeches to teachers and students, putting themselves forward for the very responsible roles within our school leadership team. Each of the students made us extremely proud. Following a whole of school voting process, our 2021 leaders will be announced during our end of term / year celebrations. Well done to all nominees, we look forward to sharing the outcome.

13.01.2022 Our grounds team superstars Mr Wotton & Mrs Seaman laying garden edging around our beautiful new boundary trees. We are so excited for this spring and summer to see all of these beauties budded up and leafy green! Our sustainability program has seen 12 new trees planted around the oval, trees that will provide shade for play and activities and also encourage native fauna to the area. We are looking forward to working with Bathurst Regional Council and Bill Josh from Habitat Connect in revegetating Hawthorndern Creek Reserve (behind St Phil's) with native trees and grasses, all whilst children are being educated on the importance of providing and looking after our environment. #smallwithagreatbigheart #catholicdioceseofbathurst #stphilsbathurst #bathurstregionalcouncil #habitatconnect

13.01.2022 Welcome to week 6! As per advice in last weeks newsletter, sadly our Father's Day Big Breakfast has been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. Children will still make Father's Day gifts in week 7 as planned, however family members are unable to come in to assist as per our normal arrangements - there will be staff on the ground in classrooms to help! We have come up with some other special ways to celebrate this special day : )

12.01.2022 Today we welcomed the Bathurst Academy of Music to St Phil's with the commencement of our in-school music program! It was so wonderful to see the excitement on children's faces who were picking up instruments for the very first time. We feel so lucky to be working with Mickey and his team and can't wait to watch our young music stars develop. Students can enrol either by visiting the team at their shop front in George Street (next to the George Hotel), or contact the school office for enrolment forms. Active Kids vouchers can also be used for this activity - and did I mention its in school time (not an extra after-school activity?)

10.01.2022 Movember games! The children are primed, the teachers are READY - the annual showdown is not too far away! Who will be victorious??? Stay tuned......

08.01.2022 Movember Games On Wednesday the 25th of November, Mr Parslow will be running a ‘Movember’ fundraiser to raise awareness about Men’s health and Bowel Cancer. ‘Movember’ is designed to create positive change for men’s health by raising awareness and educating men year-round, and through our take-over of the month formerly known as November.... Bowel Cancer Australia is the leading voice of the bowel cancer community, driving ongoing access to evidence-based, high quality programs, services and treatments that deliver better patient outcomes. The event will involve a ‘Student vs Teachers’ event where the Year 6 students will verse the teachers in sports skill challenges with ‘bragging rights’ on the line . Students are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation to put towards the cause and wear their best moustache (prizes for best ‘moe’ in each class ). If any other donations wish to be made, please donate at our front office!

07.01.2022 Our House Captains were excited to receive our latest delivery of equipment! Mrs Davies organised these resources from our local SportsPower Bathurst. 06.01.2022 What a beautiful way to commence our school year, our opening Mass was a very reverent occasion (HUGE congratulations to all of our kindy students - amazing!). We acknowledged our new school leaders, and thank P&F representatives who gifted bibles to year 6 students to use throughout the year, and the rest of their lives.
