25.01.2022 Today we flew to Japan on St Pius X Airlines. We were all first class passengers with the extra leg room required for social distancing! Upon arrival children were able to taste sushi and sip barley tea. We had a range of activities to choose from - kanzashi hair ornaments, origami cranes, writing Japanese words, competing in a chopstick challenge and taking turns raking our zen garden. It was a wonderful opportunity to get out and about and experience a little bit of another countrys culture, all while never leaving school grounds.

24.01.2022 If you build it, they will come! Last week we built a Santa Wonderland cubby and lo and behold Santa rocked up for a visit! Great work from Santa Sophie who listened to childrens Christmas wishes and Talia and Eva for being brilliant Santas helpers. This activity was all child directed and run! A big well done to the children who helped to organise - you brought some Christmas magic to OSHC

24.01.2022 Check out our LEGO Master creations. Our task was to design a float to be part of a LEGO pageant. Great teamwork and creativity on show today

22.01.2022 Shiver me timbers....There was a lot of pirate talk here tonight!!

22.01.2022 Its been a great start to vac care this week. On Monday we made bears and coloured our hair. Of course the children had to clothe and house the bears and even make them Covid-safe with masks! Tuesday we pitched tents and had a camp fire where we cooked damper, marshmallows and other camp food. Wednesday was all things boxes and today even the Amazing Drumming Monkeys showed up! Amazing

22.01.2022 And OSHC is free! Hope to see many of you next week! (Please book on the portal if children are coming to OSHC)

21.01.2022 During these crazy times, dont forget how important play is for childrens healthy development! Play grows brains and is as fundamental as nutrition for each child. If we want to build a great world we NEED playful children as they grow into resilient adults capable of managing complex social relationships. Play is essential for our evolution and survival as a species. This is a resource kit to help parents and carers.

21.01.2022 We are very sad to share that Leigh is leaving us! Leigh has been with us in OSHC for ten years exactly! He is moving full time into his role as behaviour support practitioner with the Hessel group (he currently has been doing this two days a week in recent years). We all love Leigh and will really miss him, but he promises to visit! We want to thank Leigh for the past ten years and wish him all the best of luck for the future. Leighs last day is Monday December 23rd if you want to shower him with love and gifts before then!

18.01.2022 Today we were scheduled to go to the zoo and were feeling a little disappointed that we couldnt go. When we saw the rain come pouring down we were suddenly very grateful our zoo trip had been postponed! Instead we got to go out in our rain onesies and gum boots and enjoy playing in the rain. Safe from the wet weather in the gym, we visited animals at Monarto Zoo, Melbourne Aquarium and Taronga Zoo via live stream. Our Indian cooking was a delicious success with samosas and appams being made. Our OSHC room smelt so yummmmy all day long!

13.01.2022 Today is National OSHC Educators Day and we say thank you to all our educators. Just like OSHC, our educators are unique and have different strengths and interests and we celebrate this and say thank you to them all! We shouted our educators breakfast to say thanks - They are not all here because its impossible to get everyone together at the same time - something else which is unique to OSHC (but don't stress - they're all getting the Fruchocs! )

13.01.2022 Today was also the first day we got to test out the new nature playground and the children (and staff) have given it a big thumbs up! We noticed its a bit more challenging than a regular playground and the water play sand pit and giant swing were very popular.

13.01.2022 We survived scooter day! Plus we had a little bit of yoga, some Dr Seuss ....and a ballpit. PS If your children have blue tongues, its because the green eggs and ham was a little blue.....

11.01.2022 It’s Show Week! Well, it should have been, so we celebrated all things Royal Show at St Pius X on our pupil free day. We patted farm animals, ate fairy floss and hot dogs, created our own sideshows and took home show bags! It was a lot of fun

10.01.2022 Amazing Race in the Botanic Gardens done and dusted! Orange team won......just

07.01.2022 From the vegie patch to our table - Broccoli grown in our oshc garden was used recently in our Chicken Sausage Penne Pasta. Let's just say there were no leftovers!!

07.01.2022 Do you recognize any of these items? They are left from Vacation Care. Please come and collect from oshc if they are yours.

07.01.2022 Save the trees!

05.01.2022 Today was our first Survivor Day and it was epic! The children were very enthusiastic and displayed their best sportsmanship and teamwork. They competed in four different teams to complete a number of challenges including water relays, finding clues, solving puzzles, unlocking padlocks, building tents, finding hidden idols and banner decoration. At tribal council the groups debriefed on which team members were displaying great team skills and what these skills were - such as leadership, cooperation, encouragement, inclusion and resilience. Well done to all four teams!

05.01.2022 Did you know we have breakfast specials each week? Make sure you check the board to see what's cooking. We change what's on the menu and what days they are on each week so you don't miss out.

05.01.2022 Do you find your children unload all their troubles from the day at pick-up time? They need to connect with the person they feel safe with, and loved by most, to help them understand their feelings and release tension. This can sometimes be frustrating for parents if they've had their own day they need to unwind from..... Children just need someone to listen to them, validate their feelings (all feelings are okay, but not all actions are) and provide some calm guidance for the child to move forward. Actually, quite often all they need is for you to listen

05.01.2022 We were super proud of the childrens resilience today, and their efforts to help other children. The younger group went roller skating at St Clair Rec Ctr and many fell over. A lot. But they all kept getting back up and going again.....and again! Their resilience and determination was awesome to see And so many children helped others along the way! They were all rewarded with a wonderful playground at the end! It was a great day out!

04.01.2022 Just preparing for the holidays.....

04.01.2022 The children seemed to have a great day on the Amusement rides at Semaphore today. So many things to do - even face painting and balloon animals!

03.01.2022 Our pirates and fairies had a day full of making treasures! Pirate ships that really float, magical fairy gardens, glittering wands and shiny swords. What a creative day we had.

03.01.2022 (As long as we wash our hands )

03.01.2022 Our paper fashion show was an explosion of creativity...and paper! Children took their inspiration from many different places - butterflies, soldiers, flowers, fancy gentlemen, doughnuts and the evolution of humans from cavemen to modern day man! The children bravely shared their designs on the catwalk as their peers looked on. The children worked well supporting each other, offering a pair of helping hands to cut and stick bits together and building each other up by giving feedback on how great their outfits looked!

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the OSHC team x

02.01.2022 Last night we turned cardboard rolls into decorative tea light holders to celebrate Diwali. We wish all of our families a very happy Diwali this Sunday

01.01.2022 Bye Leigh - its been a blast! But we will miss you....

01.01.2022 We went to AFL Max today and it is soooo cool! Cool in temperature (on a 40 degree day) and also a groovy place! We recommend it as a great place to visit for families and also other vac care services. While it is footy themed, there are so many different activities to engage all the children and get them active. And its big! Check it out

01.01.2022 We had a great costume party today. Well done to everyone who dressed up! Back to school on Monday!
