23.01.2022 @ S.T.Refurbs this week I’m beginning the refurb of a Complete 6 piece Pearl EX Export Series kit. From the chrome finish shells to all hardware with the last part of the process being the Cymbals. Stay tuned !!!

22.01.2022 Second on the list this week is this Session Strat copy made in Korea from a friend who had it shelved for the past 30 years . I started with a full disassemble, wipe down, lubrication of all parts and checked electronics, cleaned up and sanded neck cavity . The only major item replaced were the tuners, some re-soldering, new bridge and Trem claw screws but all else remains stock . The neck was straight with no twisting although a fret polish was needed along with saddle adjustments and of course new strings NYXL's 9- 42's . I set it up for a bit of H B Marvin Trem bending, very happy with the results and so is the owner

21.01.2022 During the early 90’s Fender brought out valve amps most people would know as the ‘Red Knob’ series. Although they have been branded as second rate or just plain crap, after purchasing one I was immediately impressed by the tone and versatility. This project so far has seen amp the amp converted into a refurbed head with slight improvements ( by amp tech Mark O’brian) and new 2x10 cabinet to follow hopefully in the next few weeks.

17.01.2022 Good morning to my S.T.R. followers, it’s a perfect day for movies ..... OR ..... go to the garage and get amongst it. I ve just finished modifying the 14x8Tom from my Premier to a 14x5 mahogany snare. At first I was hesitant to undertake the conversion but the drum was collecting dust on a shelf and now I have a snare that matches the kit. I m a fan of timber snares and this sounds fantastic

15.01.2022 This week at S.T.Refurbs Angus Woodhead from Glass House Studio’s picked up his Leslie clone cabinet. It has been the most interesting refurb so far and I was very satisfied with out come, it sounds so authentic and is definitely not digital

11.01.2022 Evening SWHANKY TANG followers .... it’s been quite a while since my last post, life has been busy with work, family and lots of gigs. But I have recently completed a few new refurb projects for clients and friends. Here’s a few images so far ... hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments . Cheers Ben

11.01.2022 Pedal boards and guitars can sometimes take damage from transportation, especially plane flights which is what happened to my setup. So a few ideas later, now the entire board lifts out for access underneath, hidden cables that help lock pedals in for a cleaner appearance

09.01.2022 I have finally had the time to complete my 2 Fender amp head & cab combos. I’m a big fan of Fender valve amps, but the cabinets I used in the past just never sounded right, so I designed and built my own. All amp head mods have been carried out by Mark O’Brian who is a master amp teck, usually rolls his eyes at the mods I want but exceeds my expectations every time !

09.01.2022 So the last couple of weeks has been all about drums. I refurbed this really nice all birch FS series’s Pacific Pdp in cherry fade to black . It was hard to let this one go

07.01.2022 Today I went shopping and picked up this 16" Avedis Zildjian Crash made in Canada. After a little research I found they produced these from around 1968 to the end of the 70's . It's in good condition and sounds great despite the normal tarnished appearance. Leave me a comment on wether I should restore the finish to its former brass glory or leave the patina..... !?! Have a fantastic weekend

05.01.2022 Another project finished and now for sale. Someone told me you can have too many drums ..... I'm still not convinced !!

03.01.2022 This weeks project .... 5 Piece fusion kit . This kit will be for sale when the refurb is complete. Clean ... Clean ... Clean

02.01.2022 Hola Amigo’s!! I have an update for the Canadian made 1970’s Zildjian Avedis 16 crash . My usual go to cleaning methods didn’t produce results due to the amount of corrosion. So after research into more abrasive methods (which I was hesitant to go through with) I was very happy with the finish and the improvement in attack and decay.
