14.01.2022 Its R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today were calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. Theres more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before theyre in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where were all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

05.01.2022 Rev John Ruhle has shared this #prayer for Fathers Day. Heavenly Father, As we celebrate Fathers Day we think about our dads. Dads nearby and dads far away.... Dads who have been there for us through the good and bad times, and dads who have struggled to know what it means to show unconditional love and support. We give you thanks for fathers and grandfathers who are role models to other men to show them what it means to be a dad who creates an environment of safety and encouragement that allows children and families to thrive and flourish. We give thanks that we can call you our heavenly father and for the comfort and peace this brings so many people. In this time of disconnect due to social isolation, self-quarantine and a global pandemic we acknowledge that more than ever we all need to feel connected. Connected to our communities, our families and our dads. So this fathers day, we give thanks and pray a blessing on all the dads who have shown us something of your love and your grace in our lives. In your name we pray. Amen. See more

02.01.2022 The Bible study on the second day of the 35th Synod in Session came from leaders of the UAICC - Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress from the Quee...nsland Synod and National Congress. In each of the reflections, members of Synod heard reflections on the theme of Grow" and the reading from Ephesians 4:15-16 about working together as the body of Christ. Rev Dennis Corowa, retired Minister of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress spoke of truth telling and hearing the stories of others. He then shared stories of his ministry in Townsville, stories of joy as well as frustration and pain. Natalie Lewis, Covenant Action Plan Project Officer for the Queensland Synod connected her story with biblical theology. Natalie spoke of her journey writing a book where she learnt another way of looking at the Bible which inspired her to learn to paint. She was able to create an artwork that shared her perspective of Australia and of the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Marrpalawuy Marika, Pastor of Yirrkala and Homelands Northern Regional Council of Congress provided a reflection, and the youth and Sunday school group from St Barnabus Uniting Church in Naprunum provided a video that interpreted the message with a play. #35thSynod #GrowTogether #GrowAbundantly #GrowHopefully The 35th Synod is proudly sponsored by Wesley Mission Queensland.
