19.01.2022 Don't forget, tomorrow is 'Walk Safely to School Day'! The objectives of WSTSD are: -To encourage parents and carers to walk to school with primary school age children and reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour. -To promote the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age.... -To ensure that children up to 10 years old hold an adult's hand when crossing the road. -To help children develop the vital road-crossing skills they will need as they become mature pedestrians. -To reduce the car dependency habits that are being created at an early age and which will be difficult to change as children become adults. -To promote the use of Public Transport. -To reduce the level of air pollution created by motor vehicles. -To reduce the level of traffic congestion. 04.01.2022 Gethsemane Community Christmas Project Over the past years, St Therese has generously participated in the Gethsemane Community Christmas Project. The aim of this project is to deliver Christmas parcels to people in the community who are forgotten, lonely or isolated around this special time of the year. This year we have been asked to donate Christmas parcels to residents of Annersley and Ainslie Aged Care facilities. (approx. 140 parcels). We would like to reach out to ...the students and families of St Therese to support this Christmas Project by donating the following items that will make up our Christmas parcels: Kindergarten 2 packets of toothbrushes and toothpaste (single pack or double pack only) Year 1 2 bars of soap and 2 pairs of dress socks (for men or women, please no ankle socks) Year 2 2 small bottles of shampoo and conditioner (smaller bottles are easier for the elderly to manage) Year 3 1 can of shaving cream OR disposable razors (packs of 10-15 razors, not the BIC yellow ones) Year 4 1 female deodorant and 1 male deodorant Year 5 1 comb and 1 brush Year 6 2 packets of sweets including diabetic lollies (no chocolates or hard sweets) Each classroom will have their own donation box and we will require all donations by the last day of Term 3- Friday, 25th September. We appreciate your support in helping the students connect with those in the community who are less fortunate than ourselves. Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. - St Francis of Assisi
