16.01.2022 We are sad to inform our valued customers that our Op Shop is closed for business effective immediately. The General Manager of the Diocese issued this directive today: Op Shops All ‘opportunity shops’ should now be temporarily closed (by close of business today, Wednesday 25 March) until 25 June - subject to further review at that time. This is to ensure the ongoing health and safety of all volunteers and visitors. If you have paid staff at your Op Shops, please contact Dioc...esan HR at [email protected] for advice. Options may include Stand Down (with access to leave provisions) or Redundancy depending on your individual situation and the person's contract. Whilst shops must close to the public today, please discuss staffing over the coming days with HR while the operational functions of the shop close down. I encourage you to continue praying for and supporting each other. This is an incredibly challenging time for parish clergy, staff and volunteers, and I sincerely thank you for all that you are doing to help keep our communities safe. Kind regards Tim Reid General Manager Take care folks. If you would like a chat and need a friend to talk to you can get Kate on 0410496570 or Fr. Tony on 0439876110. Blessings and peace Fr. Tony

16.01.2022 If you’re unwell, stay at home.

10.01.2022 Op Shop Reopening Thank you to Kate, Annette, Brent and Fr Tony for a very successful reopening of our Op Shop. It was great to catch up with our many loyal customers and those who came for the first time. The Op Shop opened with very strict distancing rules in line with government regulations. A maximum of 9 people (which included staff) were admitted to the shop at any one time. Markings on the floor determined where customers were to walk or stand and everybody followed the direction of staff. Baked goods from Woolworths were also available again and was strictly controlled by members of the staff. Thank you to everybody for your support and prayers. We look forward to catching up with you all on Saturday from 9am - 12 noon.

08.01.2022 With every passing day we are closer to reopening. We trust that you are all well and abiding by the Government Social Distancing rules. When we do open you are going to be in for a treat. Kate and Annette are in the process of completely revamping the Op Shop. It will retain its friendly atmosphere, however everything has been changed or moved and we have some new features. Looking forward to catching up with our friendly regulars and welcoming new comers. Blessings to you and your loved ones. Stay Safe......Fr. Tony

05.01.2022 UPDATE ON SERVICE CLOSURES: Archbishop Phillip Aspinall has advised that "The Anglican Church Southern Queensland will put public worship on hold from Monday 2...3 March 2020 until further notice. We will continue to monitor the situation and review our practices." I will explore ways to continue to stay connected with, care for and minister to our church members and the wider community. This will mean being creative and using whatever technology and approaches are available to us. If you have any ideas to help us keep connected please call me and have a chat. You might find the following prayer helpful in this time of trial. God of the present moment, God who in Jesus stills the storm and soothes the frantic heart; bring hope and courage to all who wait or work in uncertainty. Bring hope that you will make them the equal of whatever lies ahead. Bring them courage to endure what cannot be avoided, for your will is health and wholeness; you are God, and we need you. -Adapted by Bishop Jeremy Greaves from New Zealand Prayer Book Blessings and peace Fr. Tony

01.01.2022 Coronavirus action: Effective immediately: Old Friends Fellowship service has been cancelled until at least 25/5/2020. Services and pastoral visiting to Whiddon... Star Nursing home have been cancelled until further notice. It is anticipated that other Nursing homes will soon follow suit.Church services will continue, however the greeting of peace is on pause for the time being. Holy Communion is limited to receiving the bread only. This decision has been made out of Pastoral concern for all. It has been made keeping in mind the Archbishop's latest Ad-clerum which states: Pastoral Care It is right that we care pastorally for people who are alcoholics and it is the case that for some (though not all) even a small sip of wine from the chalice would be problematic. It should be noted that the number of alcoholics in the community is fairly small so we are not talking about large numbers of people though those affected are important. One way the church has traditionally cared in this situation is for the communicant to receive communion in bread alone. This practice has been recognized as valid since ancient times and certainly since at least the twelfth century (Cabie, 1986, 237). Our parish council and I see this to be an equally important pastoral issue in relation to Holy Communion and the Coronavirus, and we believe that the practice of taking wine from the common cup is not advisable in the current climate. Antibacterial hand gel is available at the entrance of the church buildings. Please be diligent with washing of hands and most importantly; If you are unwell, please stay home and seek medical assistance. Common sense is called for in this time of trial. Let us pray for each other, the wider community and for those health professionals and scientists who are working around the clock to bring our world back to health. Love and prayers...Fr. Tony (Parish Priest) See more
