25.01.2022 Is forgiveness possible in an age of shame and rage? On Sunday Ed Vaughan explored how in an increasingly divided world, social media can be used to publicly humiliate people for their actions and opinions. Ed suggested we need a bigger story that provides us with an understanding of who God is and how He forgives us, to inspire us to be people of forgiveness in this world. ... "The story and truth of Jesus and how he has brought forgiveness to humanity is just what we need right now!" You can check out Ed's talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGiRnSG-E6E - #WeLoveCanterbury #StPaulsCanterbury #Canterburybankstown #HurlstonePark

24.01.2022 A key part of church life at St Paul’s is community and discipleship. One of the ways we can build on our relationships and grow in Christ is through small group communities. We have a range of groups for Men and Women, Mums, Young Families, Young Workers, and People who have English as a second language. But at the heart of it, our small groups are about sharing fellowship around God’s word, praying for one another and sharing our lives together. If you are interested in jo...ining a small group, you can sign up from this Sunday! We will also be sharing more at our 9:30am, 11:30am and 5pm services. #Smallgroups #StPaulsCanterbury #Canterbury #HurlstonePark #WeLoveCanterbur

19.01.2022 Part of being a community is getting to know one another, we’d love for you to meet our pastoral team! This is Steve, the Senior Minister at St Paul’s. Claire and I came to St Paul’s in Jan 2017. We were always drawn to this area and had lived around here when we first married.... We love the mix of different cultures and we felt there was, and still is, a need for more churches throughout this part of Sydney. This year I’ll be doing more of the regular rhythms of my role, like pastoral care and praying with people. I’ll spend a bit more time leading the staff team and leading our church through the last term of our period of discernment. My favourite part of my job is that I get to share about the grace and truth of Jesus with believers and doubters alike. In 2021 I’ll be doing that all year round which I’m thrilled about. We’re about to start our first Fresh Look course for the year and I can’t wait for that. If you’d like to be a part of that let me know! #WeLoveCanterbury #StPaulsCanterbury #CanterburyBankstown #HurlstonePark #GetToKnowUs See more

15.01.2022 Over the last 12 months our church has been undergoing a period of discernment as we look to the future. On Wednesday night we gathered together to reflect on the question: what do we want to look like in 5 years? It was a great night of dreaming big!... We’re still forming what that will look like but it was exciting to hear people’s dreams for St Paul’s. The recurring theme was to be a place where people in the community are drawn to, and that as we’ve received from the gospel generosity of others, we too want to grow in gospel generosity. We continually lift these prayers for the church to God. But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head Christ. 14.01.2022 Super thankful for Luke and the kids and youth team!

13.01.2022 Hi, my name is Laurie, Reflecting from Paul’s letter in Colossians 1 and his encouragement for us to care and be concerned about the spiritual life of believers, it is my prayer for all brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, that they will be built up in a knowledge of God’s will and are able to live godly lives, pleasing to our Lord. I ask for all Christians that God may work through them so that they bear fruit in their ministries, be established in their knowledge of God, strengthened for the purpose of endurance and patience and live lives of joyful thanks.

11.01.2022 Meet Michael, the Assistant Minister at St Paul’s. At the time I chatted to a lot of great churches but what made me decide to serve at St Paul's was their sense of 'hope' and 'possibility’. They were willing to try new things, to connect with the community, to tell people about Jesus, they didn't just want another minister to fill in the gaps, they wanted someone they could do ministry with, and that's what got me on board. And I think the last few years have borne ou...t the truth of that. For the past three years I've been the focus pastor at 5pm (what a great community) and also put a lot of energy into our outreach ministries (think events, English Class, online stuff, any point at which St Paul's intersects with the broader community). This year things are changing up a bit, I'll be sharing more of these roles with different lay and staff members, and focusing a bit more on setting up some long term systems that in God's grace will help St Paul's to go the distance. I'm hoping that God will continue to grow St Paul's into a church that is genuinely for all people and that can effectively serve and bless this unique region of Sydney. God has already been doing a great work in people's hearts, and I'm confident that having begun this good work, that God will continue to bring it to its best conclusion. St Paul's has been popping up on a few different radars lately, and I'm hoping that in God's grace it continues to do so. #WeLoveCanterbury #StPaulsCanterbury #CanterburyBankstown #HurlstonePark #GetToKnowUs See more

10.01.2022 The eighteenth century theologian, Jonathan Edwards, once commented that real change was grounded in 'frontline' prayers. Prayers that weren't just about maintaining the status quo, but prayers that sought substantial and lasting change. We gathered last Saturday for our prayer breakfast (with breakfast included for the first time since COVID). ... We prayed together for St Paul's, for our local community and mission partners, and for some of the big stuff that's going on in the world. - #WeLoveCanterbury #StPaulsCanterbury #Canterburybankstown #HurlstonePark

05.01.2022 At St Paul’s, kids are a vital part of our church life. We're glad that the school holiday kids (6-12yrs) program will start this Sunday alongside our 9:30am service. We are deeply committed to partnering with parents to help raise kids who love Jesus and love others. Looking forward to another term of learning and growing with these young ones!

03.01.2022 This year at St Paul’s, as part of our commitment to social justice, we are going to be collecting items to donate to AdoptChange, https://www.adoptchange.org.au/, a not for profit organisation whose purpose is to support vulnerable children in need. Often foster kids enter care with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing or with a few clothes in a garbage bag. Until Saturday 12th December, we'll be collecting the following (new) items to donate to the MyPack initiati...ve: soft toy hand-knitted blanket pyjamas underwear toothbrush and toothpaste water bottle colouring book/pad and a pencil case with textas While you’re doing your Christmas shopping this year, throw something extra in for a child who is going through the trauma of entering foster care, and by doing so we can show God’s love in action. There will be a big box at the back of church where you can place your donations. We’re located on 33 Church St, Canterbury.
