25.01.2022 The peacocks at the Stables are wild. This means they roost on the cross at night but in the day they fend for themselves for food and water. Unfortunately they also walk up the street to see what they can see and occasionally they fly. The neighbours are often annoyed and sometimes very worried thinking they are lost. They are not lost but know exactly where they roost away from the foxes. People have been trying to give them food and water and it is this attention that is m...aking them wander more. We worry about them being distructive to gardens and cars and also that they are in danger of being run over. It would be a great help if they were discouraged from wandering by giving them no attention or negative attention such as a good hose down with the garden hose. They are not dangerous but they are very mischievous. If there is a farmer somewhere who would love to have beautiful peacocks on their property please let us know as we would be able to give them away. We would be sad though as they are beautiful and a feature of the Stables environment.

24.01.2022 Jim Hennessey is coming to the Stables this Sunday to preach. He will be joined by Simone his daughter who will lead us in worship with Sara on the piano. So looking forward to their visit. If you want to join us we get together at 10. Lots of chatting until around 10.15. We finish by enjoying a light lunch together.

23.01.2022 Our vision is to offer the love of Christ to individuals, families and young people who are in need. So we show care and give practical assistance to empower people to make choices that will enhance their overall health and spiritual well being. We seek to help families and individuals to belong to and participate in community life. Because people can become free from poverty, trauma and hopelessness. They can experience friendships, support and love to help them grow in spirit and have a renewed love for life. We provide opportunities for people to obtain skills for employment. So along the journey they gain self esteem confidence and a love of life and community. See details: http://www.communitywebs.org/stables/who-we-are/
23.01.2022 The Stables is opening its OpShop again. Hope you can pop in to see the changes. Still working on getting more clothes onto the racks as we are so short on volunteers but there is still plenty to see in the shop. All the children get a free toy from our huge collection. We are bringing back $5 bags shortly as these were very popular. Only open 9 am to 12 noon at the moment

20.01.2022 Stocking the new fridge that was generously donated through a FeedSA grant. Thanks goes to all those who support Feed SA. The Stables government support for food vouchers and parcels at the Stables has been discontinued so next year we are relying on fresh produce donated from Foodbank and local stores to assist those who are struggling to put food on the table. Our new fridge has increased storage capacity and the food will stay fresher for distribution throughout the week.
19.01.2022 Op Shop is bursting at the seams with clothes furniture and bric-a-brac. Volunteers are returning so we are aiming to open the shop Monday to Fridays 9am to 2.00pm. After noon you may have to phone 83264455 to check as sometimes it is still necessary to close early due to low volunteer numbers. Opening specials are $5 bags of clothes furniture from $5 lounges from $30. Bric-a-brac from 50c.

16.01.2022 What a nice day! Why not bring your kids to our children's playground to enjoy the sunshine @ Stables Christian Centre
16.01.2022 It has been wonderful for the church family to gather again. Just 20 plus staff to start but next week - Yes!! only the 4 sq metre rule applies. Great news for the smaller fellowships. Corona has certainly brought good changes. There is an increased appreciation of each other but more than this there is something more of God in each of our lives. We are not "getting back to normal" because normal is not enough. We are moving on into more of the Lord in everything that we do, in everything that we think about and in everything that we value. What does that mean. Don't know - but when it's God at work it's always good.
16.01.2022 Changes are taking place in our community garden. @ Huntfield Heights
15.01.2022 Help is available at the Stables for those who have been affected by Civid- 19 and are falling through the welfare gaps. The Morialta trust has distributed funds throughout the city to assist refugee families, overseas workers out of work, overseas students, families who are waiting for Centrelink payments to come through or families who are struggling. They want no child or young person to be without food. Please call the Stables if you need assistance. We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 12 noon. 83264455.
12.01.2022 More things available in the Stables OpShop. Were open Monday to Friday 8am to 12 noon
11.01.2022 This is Rob. He has been volunteering three days a week in our Seniors Kiosk for three years. The Seniors kiosk provides free computer training every Monday/Thursday/Wednesday. Anyone is welcome to have a seat here.

04.01.2022 Mum and Bubs enjoying the warm weather. If you're around the place feel free to go and say hey
03.01.2022 It's been a busy season since we have returned to what is now the new normal. The OpShop has been a hive of activity picking up furniture, moving things around to make room and restocking the clothes on the shelves. Our $5 bags are doing well. We also have $5 racks for the hackets, the new and the unusual. People are finding their new treasurer's amongst the Bric-a-brac. Our test and tag man has been busy stocking the electrical shelf. We have been so blessed to have Julie ...and Theresa come in to shop and notice we needed help. They volunteered straight away. We are needing more volunteers. Some young fellows to deliver and pick up furniture would be great. The OpShop supports containers to go overseas to developing countries the Chaplains in the schools and our own Welfare department. We are not government funded so every sale helps. So thankful also to Foodbank for their provision of fresh fruit and veg for the food parcels and for Morialta Trust for providing funding for those families struggling because of Covid 19. We particularly have a heart for those from overseas who cannot receive government assistance and who are experiencing unemployment during this time.
03.01.2022 Covid Lockdown. The Stables is closed for the 6 day duration. The provision of food is an essential service and some who are experiencing financial hardship can not pop into their supermarket. Although Stable Help provides this essential service to their local community we have decided to close for the 6 days of lockdown. We are anticipating reopen again after this time. The Op Shop is not an essential service so it will reopen when the non essential shops are allowed t...o. We have all of our Covid procedures in place. When we reopen we request that all people come to the office to access food essentials. This way we can ensure that everyone is kept safe with tracing registration, good hygiene practices and social distancing. Those who have Housing or Financial Counselling appointments may ring 83264455 and leave a message to reschedule. Foodhub is still open at Christie's Beach. I will advise of others Emergency Relief Agencies who are open as they come to hand. Stay safe and enjoy your pause in routine and may there be good news for all in our beautiful state next week. Blessings Lynne
