13.01.2022 * MEET THE TRADERS OF ST ALBANS #weeklywednesday #shoplocalbuylocal This week... we meet SAINT SIDE (what a catchy name right?) If you notice Councillor Virginia Tachos's posts, this shop may be one of her favourites... What's the story behind your shop name?... The shop name combines St Albans (Saint Albans) and West Side, into Saint Side. Initially it was a place marker, a detail to the physical location of the store, but it grew momentum and became a brand itself. What product/s is most popular that we should all buy? It's the classic old English T-shirt in black or white, our uniform tee. It’s $25 all year round! What do you love most about St Albans? We love the multiculturalism and respect in the area. Everyone finds their place and can contribute, in food, lifestyle, services or entertainment. It’s also our home. -- CHECK OUT THE SHOP AT: 22 John St, St Albans VIC 3021 Buy cool bikes, tops, caps, tops, skateboards and even toys! #whatdoyoubuythere? 02.01.2022 * WEEKEND REFLECTION TIME... #saturdayinstalbans This Wednesday was ASH WEDNESDAY. Do you or your family practice this tradition? ... I, Julianne wrote this to share the many families that gather at our parishes in St Albans to mark this period #lent Did you know? #AshWednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of prayer and fasting? After doing some reading about this Christian/Catholic ritual and also attending my first Ash Wednesday service at Resurrection Parish (in Kings Park, a neighbouring suburb of St Albans!), I wanted to share the story and importance of this period. I noticed many people lined up to have black ash marked on their forehead. This mark symbolises the dust from which some believe God made us from and to acknowledge Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Lent goes on for 6 weeks to take time to reflect and prepare for Easter. Ash Wednesday is important as it is a day to clean the soul before the fasting for the beginning of Lent. -- Learn more and experience this with others in our St Albans community: Come to Sacred Heart on SUNDAY: 4 Winifred Street, St Albans 3021 Sunday 8.00am, 9.00am Polish, 10.15am, 11.30am, 5.00pm Slovenian 2nd Sunday Only.
