22.01.2022 Why a mix of Group Fitness, Gym Work and Personal Training is the best for you ??: Do you have the same motivation every day? Do you concentrate better when you are on your own and no one is watching ?... Can you see all of your body while working out for technique, posture and movement ? These questions are all answered by one of the above options When you aren’t motivated and need some drive - Group Fitness classes My concentration is better on my own so I can practise the techniques I have learnt - Gym Work Its easy to lose a part of your body when there is so much to concentrate on with some of the compound movements used not only in Group Fitness classes, but in the gym as well. A Personal Trainer can help you perfect your technique, posture and form, they can educate you , motivate you and keep you accountable. Have a great day !!

19.01.2022 What an awesome morning !! A great start to Australia Day. A big thank you to those people who came and joined us this morning for a workout, or a class or 2. Yes, some members smashed out KiMax and Power !! Solid effort. Here's some of the fun.

13.01.2022 The benefits of Cardio and Weight training: Cardio Intervals (YAY !!!.said no one , kinda like burpees ) They are awesome !! Power, Speed, Endurance !! Slower pace.... The mirrors aren’t there for hair and make-up,..or selfies . They are there for you to check your technique and body position. Build your body awareness. Where is your body in space and time ?? Increased time under tension. There is no cadence to follow, other than yours. Technique. The best moves are the most complex. Compound movements like Squat, Deadlift and Bench press. Done correctly = AWESOME !! Done with poor technique = INJURY !! Unfortunatelytranslating Dr Google and the bodybuilding web sites into movement doesn’t seem to be that successful. See a reputable PT to GET IT RIGHT !! No pressure environment. You only need to keep up with and impress yourself. Contrary to popular belief, everyone else is too busy watching their own technique . Using the weights room isn’t just the ‘Lads domain’. It is for everyone. Young, middle aged and ‘old.ish’ (70 to 100 you guys are awesome !!) Each age has a different reason and goal, but weights helps each, don’t avoid it. Don’t be afraid to ask for HEEEEELLLLLLP Technique isn't something 'we just know'. Like Maths at school, you need to learn it , hopefully from someone who actually knows (reputable Personal Trainer, me ). For those who have spent some time with me at Cooloola Fitness in the weights room know that it isn’t as easy as ‘have weights, will lift’ if you want to improve. Those people also know I am a stickler for technique (I will get into Personal Training in another post ). There is quite a bit of technique in getting those lifts and movements correct. (hands up if I have taught you how to row , its a lot more complex than ‘PULL HARDER AND FASTER’) Technique = maximum bang for your buck, more gains, less injuries !! If you would like to change your workout, or more information, please come and see me at Cooloola Fitness. Have a great day !!

07.01.2022 Hey Team, If tomorrow (Australia Day !!) is a day off work for you, its a great excuse to get to Cooloola Fitness and join me at 7:30 for KiMax. Come and punch and kick some energy into your day !! You know it would be un-Australian to cut it short with just one class !!! Double up and smash POWER with me at 8:45. An hour of weights will be just the ticket to say you have earnt this long weekend !!! I'll let your imagination decide what you have earnt ....................

06.01.2022 Why is Personal Training of great value to you ??: Like great sporting team coaches, your PT will educate you as well as train you. As mentioned last week, why is it that when people walk into a gym, they expect to know how to lift properly ?? Did you walk into school and know how to do Math and Science without being taught ?? If you want to lift weights and achieve maximum results, find a PT (me )who knows what they are talking about and are able to explain it, and s...how it to you. Technique: people who PT with me know I am a stickler for technique, and I’m constantly watching them to ensure they are maintaining correct form. Too much weight can mean you break technique. Is poor technique holding you back from achieving that body change ?? How do you know if your technique is poor or on point ?? Technique isn’t just all about building your body, its also about protecting it from injury. How many of you have had to undergo ‘correct lifting technique’ training from your work place to reduce the instance of back injuries ?? Posture. Are you aware of your posture ?? Do you know how and what muscles to work to help correct your posture ?? Alignment. Heellllooooooo..Is your alignment correct ?? What are you looking for ?? Talk to your PT. Build your body awareness. It is one thing for your PT to put you into the correct posture and alignment, but once they aren’t there to correct you, how do you know you are maintaining it ?? It takes more than one session to build your body awareness and feel ?? Example: What is the correct length and width for your feet, and position of your upper body when lunging ? A PT isn’t just there to get that ‘extra rep’, they also need to stop you before you get hurt !! Now this IS NOT an exact science because every body is different, but knowing when to NOT go for that extra rep, and sometimes being pushed to REST , is equally important as pushing that little bit harder. Like the old saying goes ‘One workout won’t make you fit, one bad meal won’t make you fat’. One PT session isn’t going to make you an expert. You don’t know what you don’t know. (refer point 2 ) Ask your PT, or come and ask me, at Cooloola Fitness Centre . Have a great day !!
