30.04.2022 Congratulations to Thomas in Year 4, who has made the 2022 Bebras Honour roll by achieving full marks in the Bebras Challenge! Congratulations also to go Hutch in Year 4, for achieving a High Distinction, and all of the other students who recieved fantastic results.... Bebras is an international initiative aiming to promote Informatics and Computational Thinking among students. Computational thinking is defined as the processes and approaches we draw on when thinking about how a computer can help us to solve complex problems and create systems. We often draw on logical reasoning, algorithms, decomposition, abstraction, and patterns and generalisation when thinking computationally. Students in years 3-6 are challenged by a variety of questions aimed at testing their ability to problem solve using different strategies. For Thomas to achieve full marks in the 2022 Bebras Challenge is a huge accomplishment, one that very few students across Australia achieve. He will now have his name published on the Bebras Challenge Honour roll on the CSIRO Bebras website. All students in years 3-6 will complete round two of the Bebras Challenge in September, and will have a chance to improve on their great results in Term 1. CSIRO Digital Careers

19.01.2022 Our Year 5 students have been learning all about leadership in preparation for becoming our 2021 school leaders. Over the past two weeks students have participated in challenging and inspiring Leadership days. Our Year 5 students also led our school through a moving Remembrance Day ceremony. Fantastic work Year 5.

19.01.2022 Students have been busy completing their STEM projects over the last couple of weeks. Year 6 students have been designing automated robots that could collect rock samples from Mars. Year 5 students are using conditional coding to develop digital systems and upcycle old clothing. Kindergarten have also been developing their coding skills by creating Christmas animations using Scratch junior!

14.01.2022 Students in Year 2 have been exploring sound energy. They will be designing and creating digital instruments. Here the students are exploring and recording different sounds. They will then build their instrument and code a program that will play these sounds digitally. The students loved experimenting with different sounds and learning about how they are represented on the chromebooks.

14.01.2022 Last week students in Year 2 proudly showcased their STEM projects to their peers. After spending all term designing, testing and refining their interactive digital instruments they were able to share their finished products. Students confidently described the different types of energy within their instrument. They shared and explained their code, and taught their peers about 'Makey Makey' and their digital systems. Great work Year 2!

12.01.2022 We are so proud of the amazing effort our whole school put into their Book Week costumes! Can you spot your favourite book character? The #CBCA2020 theme of 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' was certainly alive in our school today!

11.01.2022 Each year, students from Year 6 in the Sydney, Wollongong and Wagga diocese are invited to submit religious artworks to the Christmas Art Competition and Exhibition. St Aloysius art students created beautiful artworks depicting many aspects of the Christmas Story. After much deliberation, three artworks were submitted this year. These artworks will now be among hundreds submitted for consideration for inclusion in the virtual exhibition and competition. Congratulations to Samara L, Olivia M and Livia W. Please enjoy the beautiful artworks our talented artists created.

05.01.2022 Yesterday students in Years 5 and 6 participated in a challenging 'Build a Shelter' incursion. Students had to work in groups to purchase and gather resources that they could use to build an effective shelter. It was great to see so much collaboration and communication as students designed, tested and refined their structures! Fantastic work from our current and future leaders.

04.01.2022 What a wonderful Mercy Market day! Thankyou to Mrs Young and the Year 6 team for all of their hard work organising this amazing day. Our students dressed as our local heroes, and showcased their creativity in developing and running their stalls. All of the money raised will be donated to Catholic Care.

02.01.2022 Our whole school enjoying Kindergarten's Dance performance last Friday! Our students loved the expert coaching from The NIKKI VISAJ Movement Dance Mob who Zoomed in all the way from Melbourne. A special thanks to Mrs McNeilly for organising and coordinating.
