25.01.2022 Read all about Stan and a bit of his background in the current issue of the Australian Performance Horse Magazine. Article written by our good friend, Anna Fullarton.

22.01.2022 Here at Stan Bowd Custom Made Saddlery we have a few hand-picked sponsored riders who you may have seen us reference over the past few years. We have a great partnership with these riders and feel that they all do a fantastic job in representing our brand both in and out of the show ring. They are esteemed horsemen and women and we are proud to have them riding in a Bowd. Over the coming weeks we will re-introduce these riders and share some of their words of wisdom with you and we are sure they would be happy to help you with your own journey in the horse world. 18.01.2022 Sponsored Rider Profile: ASHLEY WHITING from Ashfield Stock Horses. Ashley uses some of our bridles and breastplates and has a custom made fender/halfbreed saddle which she uses on a daily basis both at home and in the show ring, and a second one on order! How long have you been riding/how did you start? I have been riding since I was about 10 years old. Ilse Matthews taught me to ride on Koorala Sensation, taking me to shows, polocrosse and showjumping. ... What do you look for in your choice of saddlery? I look for a saddle that puts me in the correct and comfortable position to train a horse. It needs to be quality leather that will last and not be too heavy for me to put on multiple horses a day. My show gear needs to be eye catching and elegant. I like to have multiple show bridles so I can choose the appropriate style to suit the horse. Highlights of your riding career so far? Riding Silverthorn My Girl to win Supreme Hack at the 2013 ASH Nationals; Winning the Prince of Wales Trophy in 2013 with Silverthorn My Girl; Taking out Champion Working ASH with Forest Law and Order at Sydney Royal 2016; Winning the 2yr old National Futurity with Silverthorn Lilac Time; Riding Pinetor Questionnaire to take out all 5 Supremes at the ASH Youth Nationals Who has been your biggest influence in your riding? It all started with Ilse Matthews. I would have to say that without her I would not have the love for riding like I do. I got to ride so many different horses and try multiple disciplines finding my interest in the showing. Ilse has always supported me and I’m forever grateful for the help she has given and continues to give me. What advice do you have for people starting out in horse sports? Never give up trying. You don't get experience unless you're out there doing it. Work hard and the results will follow. What is on the horizon for the next few months for you and your horses? The next few months will probably be a lot quieter in the show ring, so I will focus more on getting the younger horses handled and started under saddle. I would also like to run a few small clinics or lesson days over winter. Ashley is located in Tamworth, NSW and takes horses for breaking and training. She is also available to give lessons. You can contact her via https://www.facebook.com/AshfieldStockHorses/

13.01.2022 Happy to take any donations from our Sydney friends to the Nationals if you can spare anything

12.01.2022 We are so pleased that this combination shared today’s victory after some recent bad luck, taking home our trophy saddle. Fabulous to see our own sponsored riders, Brett Welsh and Mat Holtz sharing the podium with this special win. We know they will continue to Ride Proud in a Bowd. Congratulations to all competitors - there were some beautiful horses on show.

12.01.2022 SPONSORED RIDER PROFILE: We proudly sponsor Brett and Melanie Welsh of Allstars Australian Performance Horses in Beaudesert, QLD. Brett unfortunately sustained a broken leg earlier this year but that didn’t stop their success at the recent ASH Nationals. With a strong support network and some mates who are handy riders, Brett and Mel were rewarded for their ongoing hard work with many awards at this year’s show, including a Stan Bowd Trophy Saddle for the Maturity. Brett s...hares some information below about his success and what’s next for the Allstars Team. How long have you been riding/how did you start? I believe it was before I could walk! What do you look for in your choice of saddlery? I look for good fitting saddlery, I want a close fitting saddle that allows me to go from the campdraft arena to the show arena and perform all disciplines. What has been your greatest achievement/memory in your riding career? The 3 National Futurity wins is right up there (two x 2 year old National Futurities and one x 3 year old National Futurity); also placing at the Warwick Campdraft is always a thrill. And seeing our kids enjoying the Australian Stock Horses as much as we do. Who is your role model in the horse industry/who has influenced your riding? There have been many, Frank Green has helped me along the way in my training and then there are many competitors you look up to and how their horses are trained and would like your horses to go that way. What advice do you have for people starting out in horse sports? Always ask the best person you can in that field, they are always happy to help as I know first hand with the two legends that helped me out in March at the ASH National show! What is on the horizon for the next few months for you and your horses? We are starting to get busy now, we have been to 2 Branch shows since the Nationals, Beaudedert Campdraft then onto Toowoomba Landmark sale and then we make the trip to Willinga Park campdraft. A board meeting on the Monday/Tuesday after Willinga then another Branch Show at Allora on the Saturday and Sunday. I don’t want to look past that. Lol! We wish them well at the next few events and know they will keep Riding Proud in their Bowds! https://m.facebook.com/allstarsaustralianperformancehorses/

10.01.2022 Who will be the winner of the 30th National Maturity and take home the Stan Bowd trophy saddle in 2019?

06.01.2022 Sponsored Rider Profile: MAT HOLZ. Recently home from another successful ASHS National Show is Mat who we are proud to have riding in a Bowd! Mat rides in our fender saddles which he uses for his breaking/training and in the show ring/campdraft arena. This style of saddle was designed and made to Mat’s specifications and it keeps him in close contact with the many horses he rides and campaigns throughout the year, whilst also seating him in a comfortable position - allowing... him to get the best results from each horse he rides. How long have you been riding/how did you start? I grew up on a dairy farm in the Hunter Valley and started riding at a young age. All cattle work including bringing the dairy cows in was done on horses. What do you look for in your choice of saddlery? I look for close fitting saddles that are well balanced with a good finish. Stan covers it all. Highlights of your riding career? Greatest achievement is probably winning the Landmark Classic. Who has been your biggest influence in your riding? My greatest role model has probably been Bruce McNaughton. His ability to start a horse at a high level has always impressed me. What advice do you have for people starting out in horse sports? My advice is work hard, learn from the people you respect and help out by getting on committees. What is on the horizon for the next few months for you and your horses? I generally run a dozen or so clinics during autumn and winter. Our competition season is nearly over but we do have Gippsland Campdraft Championships mid April and Willinga Park mid May. We wish Mat Tristan Holz all the best at these upcoming events and know they will continue to represent both themselves and our brand at an elite level. 02.01.2022 We are so proud of our daughter Courtney for winning the ASHLA class at the ASHS National Show today. Many people ask us about Courtney’s gear but just like a plumber might have leaky taps, Courtney rides in a second hand Bowd saddle that we traded in and it is the only saddle she has for stock horse classes! It gets used every day on all the horses. She uses the same saddle for playing polocrosse and trail riding as she does for her ASHLA classes. Proof that well fitting gear that has been thoroughly cleaned and looked after is all you need! (Mind you... she keeps writing her name on Dad’s whiteboard hoping a new one will come her way!)
