24.01.2022 Jess, retrained standardbred being ridden by our 13yo. Some of the things that the horses get up to here at Standardbreds southern NSW are a little more advanced than the average horse training. The timber bridge is a great learning aid for the horses and helps to desentisize them to weird and unusual situations.

19.01.2022 Abby our 13 year old riding Jess around the paddock yesterday. As you can see Abby the Black Labrador is also helping out. Bit unfortunate both the child and dog having the same name but the dog is 3 years old and came with that name when she moved here 3 months ago from a suburban block in Sydney. Jess is a standardbred horse that was too slow to race but is becoming a very nice riding horse. She is becoming very comfortable with trotting and cantering and Abby the human is going to start to jump Jess soon. Too good to waste, Standardbreds make fantastic riding horses with the right retraining and have lovely personalities. They do become a part of your family. If you want to meet Jess she is looking for a new home, we have way too many horses and you cannot keep them all. Jess is suitable for an intermediate rider and up.

17.01.2022 At present we have horses looking for new homes. Gem is a lovely natured horse. She is 16 and is perfect as a beginners or lead line horse. We have broken her to riding saddle and she walks, trots, backs up, knows how to side pass etc... Gem is Free to good home as we can't afford to keep feeding 14 horses and I don't have the time to continue her education.... Many thanks and wishing everyone the happiest and safest Christmas and New years. Phil

15.01.2022 Checking a couple of horses we have at another property up the road this morning. They have a very tough life.

10.01.2022 Proud Dad moment. I said I was going to saddle up flash for the first time in 3 or 4 months and 10 year old Mia, my daughter, said she wanted to ride him. Mia hasn't been interested in riding in years and I never pushed the point hoping she might get back into it. Well Flash isn't exactly small at 17 hands-ish and Mia is pretty small for a 10 year old but up she goes. Only on lead today but she did say she want's to ride again before school tomorrow. Flash is only halfway thr...ough his training and he is such a good listener and learner. He is a keeper. Mia want's him for her horse. No pic today but as a size comparison, this was Ash, he was a similar height to Flash and is a fantastic horse. I heard he was doing well at his new home the other day which is wonderful to hear. I miss him quite a bit to be honest. He was such a proud horse. See more

08.01.2022 Filthy thieves. I don't know Miriam but I do hope she gets this gear back.

08.01.2022 Had an interesting few days recently. Lost the hay shed and a heap of horse rugs, stock crate, water tanks and troughs and a heap of fences.

08.01.2022 Working a few of the girls today, Gem is turning out to be a real gem. Both Tara and Abby rode he bareback today and have been trotting her bareback.

08.01.2022 Found a new home. Gem, Standardbred riding horse. Lovely temperament, perfect lead line/beginners horse, Trots normally. Sweet natured girl. 16yo. Approx 15 hands. Good teeth and feet.... We can't afford to feed 14 horses any more. Located at Narooma NSW South Coast. See more

02.01.2022 And so the rebuild begins. Its a bit disheartening when you have to look at the same mess every day. We got off very lightly. I was doing a job at Link Road Wandella (Cobargo) the other day and every home there has been destroyed. All the promises of assistance from the government regarding cleanup costs and yet here we are more than a month later and the government still don't seem to have released any funds to local contractors or property owners to enable clean ups to begi...n. It is psychologically damaging to have to constantly see your home and property in the state it is in. All these funds that were donated by kind hearted persons is a wonderful thing, but it seems that to every silver lining there is a cloud. Businesses are hurting and locals desperately need the work. Lets hope the government in their infinite wisdom don't simply give out clean up contracts to a couple of big out of area companies. A mechanic mate of mine lost 30 odd years of workshop equipment and his workshop. These people need to get back on their feet as soon as possible. So if you are thinking of Donating, don't give it to a faceless organisation. Come and spend the money in the affected areas instead. Brad and Gayle who owned a mechanical workshop at Coologalite pretty much typify the desperation of thousands of affected people. Pick your self up and dust your self off and start again. But the cleanup MUST begin. See more
