24.01.2022 FREE 45 MINUTE GROUP FITNESS SESSIONS! Attention ALL community members! FREE 45 minute group fitness sessions designed and supervised by "REPS Fitness and Performance" and implemented by current Year 12 Certificate III Fitness students from St Andrews Catholic College. Sessions entail a combination of aerobic and strength based activities and are designed to cater to (and challenge appropriately) ALL ages, abilities and fitness levels. Sessions are open to ADULT St Andrews ...community members. Warm-up will START at 3:15 pm. The sessions will conclude at 4 pm. Please bring a towel, water bottle and appropriate sports gear. Our goal is to create challenging and inclusive fitness opportunities which enhance health and fitness in a supportive community-based environment. All sessions are based in the O Block Gym at the College. Commitment is for 5 weeks. Further details in the links below. 24.01.2022 POP UP RESTAURANT We have been expanding the training we offer to help our Senior Hospitality students fine-tune their skills. The College will be running a Live Restaurant experience on Thursday 3rd September MEXICAN MADNESS. We welcome the St. Andrews community to join us to help make this a meaningful experience for the students. Opening Hours 5pm-7pm Bookings can be made by calling 0477 027 313 Booking open 8am Tuesday 1st September until sold out. Seating times 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm, and 6:30pm College Caf in Y1. Alfresco Dining. (Parking is available at the southern end of the College, behind Y Block)

23.01.2022 FAREWELL YEAR 12s! Farewell to the College's Year 12 cohort, who walked their way through the school for the last time today, cheered on by the entire College. This morning however, the Year 12 Students and staff conducted a final breakfast, and the Year 6 Students had a chance to come and say a final goodbye to their Year 12 mentors/buddies.... An emotional and stirring day, and a BIG thank you to everyone that helped make it incredibly special. Some images attached of the breakfast, with the leaving ceremony and "Time Tunnel" images to follow soon. Best of luck for the future Year 12 Students & congratulations!

22.01.2022 Thank you to all who attended the Junior Years Band concert on Wednesday evening. Parents and friends were able to attend in All Saints' Theatre for the first time this year, and were treated to a simply spectacular performance! Well done Junior Years Band!

20.01.2022 WHAT ARE WE UP TO? On this installment of "what are we up to?" we have a look at Year 5s getting ready for their NAIDOC assembly on Friday. Time was spent making some clapsticks, rainshakers and a prayer cloth. Very cool indeed. More updates on how in turns out on Friday!

20.01.2022 JUNIOR JAPANESE CLASS The Junior Japanese classroom has turned even more Japanese! Students now take off their shoes for classes, sit on cushions at low Japanese tables (with table socks), and the Junior library now also includes a large Japanese book section. In these photos Elizabeth, Isabelle, Catherine and Peyton demonstrate all of the above for us.



20.01.2022 HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL A HUGE success and an incredible show put on by the production team! Everyone looked like they had a fantastic night and some of the individual performances were very memorable. Congratulations to all involved!

19.01.2022 MIDDLE YEARS AWARDS NIGHT Thank you to all that attended the Middle Year's Awards evening on Monday. It was fantastic to see so many parents back in the Theatre. A magnificent performance from the Middle Years band and a massive congratulations to all those who took out awards on the night!

19.01.2022 ASTRONOMY NIGHT - NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK In celebration of national science week, the Colleges annual astronomy night will be held on Tuesday, August 18, between 7 - 8:30pm, near the Middle & Senior Years library. See the celestial wonders of our Solar system and more! Science is fun at Saint Andrews Catholic College.

18.01.2022 FATHERS DAY STALL Family and community engagement (FACE) is the new face of the Colleges P&F. This year, due to restrictions, FACE has kindly donated all the gifts to the Father Day stall. This Thursday all students will have the opportunity to visit the stall and select a special gift for Dad. There is NO cost involved this year and all gifts are new and individually packaged. A BIG thank you to FACE and all the Dads out there!

18.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK AUGUST 17 - 21 Were bursting with excitement for the arrival of National Science Week in Week 6 (August 17-21). So in preparation, we thought wed see how many rubber bands it takes to split a melon? Science is fun at St Andrews Catholic College!

16.01.2022 FNQ's TOP TEACHER 2020 After hundreds of nominations Cairns Post has revealed the shortlist of 50 teachers still in the running for the title of FNQ’s Best Teacher of 2020. 15.01.2022 MIDDLE YEARS WEEK 10 ASSEMBLY We had a great end-of-term assembly this week in Middle Years. Our amazing Year 6 & 7 Band played for us and the beautiful voices of our VOSTA group sang for us. New awards were launched; The St Andrews Way Learning Award and Community Award, both of which are designed to promote a positive learning and community culture. The postcard certificates were designed by 4 of our talented Middle Years students! Students are nominated by their fellow students or teachers and many of our Middle Years students were the first ones to receive this new award. A BIG assembly for Middle Years in the run home for Term 3!

15.01.2022 YEAR 7 RETREAT Our Year 7 students enjoyed some time away from the College in week 5. As well as reflective retreat activities, they built team skills with rock climbing & laser tag. A great learning experience for all the students involved!

13.01.2022 BIG BAND DINNER Our Big Band Dinner on Friday was quite a thing! Top music, divine food, original art on display and perfect company. The students were exceptional: - 30 charts, 3 solo spots, lights, sound, food, art work on display, hospitality students were perfect, bar, raffle / silent auction it went off without a hitch. Due to restrictions, we were only allowed 80 guests. We were sold out. This made the evening even more special, as we were performing to our nearest an...d dearest. The warmth and love was evident even before the first notes were played. Thank you to everyone that played a part in this wholesome charity evening. The next meeting will be held in the Middle/Senior years library on Tuesday September 8 and will also be accessible via zoom. 12.01.2022 RUGBY 7S TOURNAMENT Week 6 saw the College play host to the Rugby 7s tournament. There was fierce competition and some truly exciting moments in both the Girls & Boys tournament. A BIG thanks to all the schools and people that attended.

The use of a yarning circle (or dialogue circle) is an important process within Aboriginal culture and Torres Strait Islander culture. The yarning circle has been used by Indigenous peoples from around the world for centuries to learn from a collective group, build respectful relationships, and to preserve and pass on cultural knowledge. ... 10.01.2022 DODGEBALL HOUSE CHAMPIONSHIPS It was house vs house in the College dodgeball championships in week 5, with Ozanam prevailing in the end. The competition was fierce and fast with some lightning throws and masterful catches!

06.01.2022 PURPLE DAY - RELAY FOR LIFE A BIG Thank You to all staff and students for supporting Purple Day. A great turn out for the day in support of a fantastic cause! The students also made banners with messages of hope for those affected by cancer. The College has raised close to $1000 so well done everyone!

05.01.2022 YEAR 12 LEAVING CEREMONY On Friday November 20 the College bid farewell to the Year 12 students. There were so many great images taken, we have made an album to commemorate the day. Congratulations once again Year 12 and best of luck for the future!

04.01.2022 YEAR 8 SPIRIT WEEK PERFORMANCES To close out the week we bring you some images of the Year 8 Spirit Week performances. Although they were fairly impromptu in their creation they were full of enthusiasm. To celebrate, the Year 8s were thrown a pizza party. Party on!

04.01.2022 WHAT ARE WE UP TO? This week on "what are we up to", we feature our Year 9 design & technology class, where the students are making a genuine working ukulele! They aim to have it finished by early next term and hope to learn a few chords along the way. Pretty awesome!

01.01.2022 UNIFORM DONATIONS Our Health Centre is in need of donations of uniforms across all sectors of the school! If you have any old or outgrown uniforms please kindly donate to our Health Centre. As we all know there are many reasons in a day that a student could need a replacement uniform and the Health Centre comes to the rescue! Also, if your child has needed to borrow a uniform this term, please return it clean to the Health Centre. Thank you all!
